Who do you want to play Five-Eight for the rest of the year?

I think Rankin is the best option. Unfortunately not too many options though. He does kick goals and well. He might actually get a crack ina proper position and might surprise. Littlejohn is equally as good, but lacks the kicking options. But not much between them.

Rather depressing looking at those options… Guess it's Rankin unless someone else in the team that can kick that we don't know about..

Rankin has been much maligned because he's been judged playing out of position.

He's a half not a winger and it appears the only person who didn't realise it was our former coach. I believe he was well regarded in England and seems to be performing in the lower grades.
He's not likely to be a world beater but I think it's reasonable to give him a chance to show his wares in his actual position. You wouldn't judge Thurston or Reynolds playing on the wing.

It doesn't really matter as they ALL would perform better than Moses but I'd give Rankin the nod. He always gives 100% & he kicks goals.

We need something more than what we have available in house.
We now have cap space so we might as well try something different.
Plenty of talent stuck in ISP …

I've gone off Lolohea to be honest. Too much trouble for such a big risk. I would like an ISP transfer for this season and then Will Hopoate or Izzy for fullback next season. If we do this we get a new ISP half for next year as well, which we need anyway.

I'd like Cameron Cullen, although I suspect we'll end up with Lolohea in a couple of weeks and that will be the answer.

I'd bring Benji back for the rest of the year…Let him just be the running 5/8 he wanted to be......he can kick goals too.

Lolohea for me if he gets released. However lets go rankin. His supporters have come up with every excuse to why he has failed in every position he has played in this far. Happy to eat humble pie if he does well but something just tells me he wont.

I think a cardboard cut out of Benji would be an upgrade on what we have had over the last few weeks

Hahahahaha, you are right
:roll

Lawrence, if only to fix up the woeful defence on that side. It would allow Brooks full control of the side and good preparation for next year. It would allow another forward in the 17 as well, which will also help with defence and go forward.

Agree with this wholeheartedly! I know Cleary has gone with JLJ for this week and I think that's probably the sensible approach for now, since he was playing in the halves when Brooks was out earlier. However, if after a couple of games it's not working out, put Lawrence there for all the reasons you mention above.

People calling for Rankin are probably only doing so because we need a goal kicker, surely you remember his inept displays from last year and pre-season? Moses has been bad, but we don't want to replace him with someone equally as bad! If we need a goal kicker then let's put Justin Hunt on Kev's wing and keep Rankin & Kev away from first grade altogether. Hunt is a solid winger, who can kick really well and he doesn't have the defensive issues of Naiqama. Simple solution!

True mate, it would fix some of the defensive issues on that side. But that's about all it would fix and other teams would simply be able to concentrate almost all their defensive effort toward Brooks as he would be chief kicker/playmaker. Too much pressure for him I think, so the replacement needs to at least be able to kick a footy and pass it…

I'm all for bringing Benji home. Never thought I'd say that after the way he left the club. But now these 3 muppets have trumped that big time.

My guess is that even though JLJ has been named at 6 that may not be what happens when they run out. Rankin will probably play unless someone else can goal kick
