Who drops out when Jack Buchanan is fit?

I really like Jack but based on his ability from last season it's hard to imagine him taking the place of the players there now. As others have said it will of course come down to injuries and form.

He had a really good Year in 2013, But @ the moment he will have to play State Cup as there are a few in front of him.

You kinda feel a bit bad for the bloke. Stepped up last year when everyone else was injured, and now when the shoe is on the other foot, he realistically wont get a look in.

He's not a "fashionable" player to have in the team persay - kinda like Matt Bell was - No nonsense, does his job, but like others have said - hardly dynamic.

He's a toiler, and a hard worker, and has the opportunity this year to fine tune his game in reggies.

At least with Buchanan you know what you get (unfortunately so do the opposition) VS the rocks and diamonds someone like BMM dishes up.

I feel for the kid can't see him getting a start unless we lose 3 or 4 props or maybe origin time . Still have guys like haletau , sirro , (molts) that may not even see first grade . Sirro yes haletau maybe but molts won't . Our nsw cup side should be unstoppable with these guys playin for them

I can not envisage a scenario where Molts will play for us ever again. And that is a very, very good thing. His attitude is the very antithesis of what the team showed on Friday night.

I agree avocado! Finally we have young players right across the field (some new to the club some coming of age) who exhibit the sort of desire and aggression it takes to be successful and while I believe Jack can probably fit this mould, Tim Moltzen has shown us time and again that he doesn't.

You never have everyone available, at some stage we will require Buchannan to come in, and he is an back up.
I actually think overall I prefer Buchannen to Ava, Ava a better ball carrier, Buchanan a better defended and gets quick play the balls despite not being a great metre eater….
Anyway, nice problem to have.

Of course Moltz will play for us again

He will be a handy acquisition to the RMC side

I also read that Sam Hollis might get a crack at first grade some time this year as well, he also plays prop

Potter was really talking Jack up during the preseason - talking about increased strength/bulk. And so far, Potter has been on the money (Bodene, Gavet, Taupau) etc. So, if Jack CAN force his way into the team, then good on him - it means he must be in red hot form. I like the guy - he has a terrific offload (if he can trust himself to try it) and has enormous ticker. We'll see.

well he is a reason we have such great depth in the forwards at the moment, and if he plays well in NSW cup and someone else is in a flat spot its great he is there waiting.
who knows? maybe the intensity theyre playing with now will dictate a rotation policy? he could be very useful, but right now cant see a spot for anyone else (forwards)!

Will Potts put him straight back in when fit?

I wouldn't think so. The forward pack are all ripping in and Buchanan is well behind the 8 ball at the moment.

I think Potts might also like the fact he can play the 80 if required and with all the concussions happening, it might be crucial we have a few forwards who can play long stints.
Anyhow, whatever happens, its been a long time coming where we have a wealth of forwards that are impressive.

IMO buchanan does not offer the aggression and drive that our current forwards do, in particular the impact our bench is providing. He would have to start absolutely carving up in NSW cup to even be considered getting a run in first grade, barring injuries/suspensions even then I would of thought Brown would get a run before Buchanan. Also everyone keeps stating that we lack back rowers, we have have Blair, Thompson, Paterson, Sironen, Fulton, Halatua and Lovett. Are we really lacking?

If Vela and Fiagatusa can stay on the park and play some good footy, they could potentially be Gavet mk II, which I think would spell the end of Buchanan. We've all seen how effective the pack has become with the added grunt. Woods, Galloway, Blair and Ava provide the solid work, while Taupau, Sue and Gavet have been our x factors.

Tt :sign: talk about props/secondrowers who is Sam Hollis from Panthers. Re this wks League wk page 9 seems we've got him. Anyone know what his stats are ie height weight etc?
