Who drops out when Jack Buchanan is fit?

Can't see him featuring on the bench the way the guys currently in the side have been firing. He just wouldn't have the same impact in terms of size and aggression.

In my opinion Jack Buchanan does… I cannot see him displacing any of our current props, dont see him getting a run without injury or suspension.

The way things are going he will have to earn his way back into the pack. You couldn't drop any of the forwards on performances this year. BMM, Siro, Brown and Haletau will all be fighting for spots too so plenty of competition for a change.

It's tight now but injuries and suspension will give everyone a shot at some point. Then it's up to each player to take their chance when it's presented.

We have so much forward depth in the props department that I can't see him play NRL again unless we have a horror run with injuries and suspensions. It's a bit of a scary period for Tigers fans when it comes to recruitment and retention in our pack over the next couple of years.

I'd say Nathan Brown is ahead of him in the pecking order as a replacement. Brown's defense isn't as good but he'd have better impact from the bench imo. BMM is possibly also before Buchanan.

Another name being thrown around to possibly get a spot in the pack at some stage later this year is Dallas Graham from the 20's. I have no idea how he is going in the NYC but i've seen it mentioned in multiple places that he is a smokey to make his debut late this year or sometime next year.

It's a weird feeling to have good depth in a position, I remember the early days of Wests Tigers where we could barely find any decent props, even playing Laffranchi at 10 in the 2005 GF.

Nowadays, some positions, we have FG-quality players unable to get a look-in.

wait a few more games, i'm pretty sure the whole pack won't all be doing amazingly every game by round 6 or 7\. There will be 1 or 2 that throw up the odd poor game with too many missed tackles, poor penetration or penalties conceded.

Then Buchanan can probably slot in on the bench for whoever that person happens to be.

iam a big buchanan fan for his age but gee he has no hope of getting in this side the way they are playing.the bench has given us so much go forward sorry for jack maybe if there is injuries

I feel when Jack comes back through NSW Cup and if he starts getting stats of 200m plus from 15 hit-ups & makes 30+ effective/dominant tackles a game, he is a certainty to get a spot in the pack…

Jack has a great work rate but Ava, Sue, Gavet and Taupau are all more dynamic than him.

Agreed however that is a real tough ask.

It will be interesting when Halatau and Sirro come back. I think Sirro gets a spot but Halatau doesn't. The thing is I don't know who drops out for Sirro.

Buchanan showed a lot of ticker last year during our injury crisis but there is no way with how all the props are performing in our team he should gain a spot. Needs to go to State Cup and work hard.

Just an idea - We have so many props now and struggle with second rowers.

Given we need to secure our juniors up with Salary cap money so we can not really buy someone why can't we convert some of our props into second rowers. From memory Todd Patyen, who is on our coaching staff played both prop and second row plus we have David Kidwell on a coaching staff who was a quality second rower.

Someone like Woods has a lot of ticker and seems to be able to play big minutes. Taupau could be another candidate.

Imagine this as our pack (size and mobility)

Blair
Taupau
Woods
Galloway
Farah
Ava

reserves

Brown
Gravet
Fulton/Buchanan
Sirro

Probably hard to comment until we see him physically

I'm sure Willow mentioned he seemed bigger

If he has some added leg drive , he might be pretty close

In the Top 19 at the least

Disagree with moving Woods and love having Taupau off the bench. Replacing 2 props with 2 props is working well for us.

Woods
Farah
Galloway
Sironen
Thompson
Blair

Taupau
Gavet
Ava
Sue

Works better in my opinion.

The props u have playing as edge runners would get smoked, this team would get lapped!
Whilst patten and kidwell played both positions, not very many ppl can, playing on an edge requires a lightening fast reaction to reads in D and to have very good lateral speed..
