Brooks is not the problem. AD and Stef are our big problems in the roster today. Longer term we need to upgrade our spine and backs.

Desperate times.

There is no way you release Brooks early. You just play him as a secondary half - a 6 or whatever you want to call it. He isn't an issue at all. I mean his contract is an issue this year but it's over this year as well. We shouldn't resign him unless we get 8 weeks where his worst game is at the same level as yesterday. That should be his worst game. You also don't sign him for anything more than like 500k.

AD is the issue though because he has been considered a guy that can lead us. I've considered him at that level. I don't think he is up to it.

To'a has proven he is the best centre in the club and he proved it again yesterday.

We have two big issues now:-

1. AD. A key player who we were looking to build around but he isn't progressing in the halves.
2. Stef - a key forward who was meant to lead our pack going forward but he is making so many mistakes. I reckon he'll get his game together but it's a massive concern.

I think we need a top quality 7 and a top quality 1 longer term.

Brooks looked a class above any other player we had out there yesterday. He needs to keep it up and with Batemans help drag the rest of the team up.

As many on here know I have been critical of Luke over the years but also praised him as well...
I mentioned after RND1 that Brooks has been in rehab for an injury and has had a long layoff...
I said that this year is his year to prove his worth,he is doing what needs to be done atm,ITS the other players that are new to our system that have to get used to Sheens and Benji coaching,lets face it Api comes to us from a very successful system,Klemmer is an international forward,Papi a rising second row demon and a mix of youth that are very talented..The answer in my opinion is that AD has to perform in a team where he does his job NOT TRY and win games on his own,Brooks really needs to do what Hastings did last year ie. yell point and direct this mob THATS WHAT A HALF DOES...Luke did some good things yesterday and I will give him the chance to show us an improvement in his job as the season develops,it will be hard for many to adapt to Sheens style,let alone his apprentise coach...
worst player in my opinion is Noffa,big extention for little output from an experienced winger...

Api is playing league God difficulty and the rest are struggling on schoolboy.

I'd vote for coaching. Coaching is the worse of the lot.
There is no structure at all, no straight runners, halves standing still. A naturally talented player like Marshall can't coach attack. Everything came natural to him, so what could he possibly offer? All the best coaches had to work super hard at there game to even play NRL. There has never in the history of Rugby League been a successful coach that was an incredibly gifted player.

This is a better argument. Brooks was easily one of our best players. He was caught on the 4th which left Api and Doueihi to make the 5th play. They couldn't do anything with it. That was the issue.

The problem is people are expecting Brooks to win us the game but he isn't that player. You can get good defense, good running game, minimal mistakes, a decent kicking game but you don't get a creative player who is going to win you games regularly.

We need other players to step up.

Clearly yesterday Brooks wasn't the problem. Stef was really really bad. AD was really really bad. I thought Api was pretty good but he didn't nail those big plays when he had a chance. Brooks didn't get those chances.

The only good game we've played this year was against Canberra. Guess who wasn't playing? Completely consistent with every other year. Hastings and Madden would've been a strong halves pairing - toughness, control and flair vs lack of direction and confusion.

No. It's not about caring too much. It's about not having the ability to play in the halves. His game management is considerably worse than Brooks. I stated this prior to yesterdays game as well.

His defense is atrocious. It's so bad that he is consistently targeted by opposition teams. His game management is the worst I've ever seen. Cronk stated he looks to want to score off every touch and it's all high risk plays. His bombs are okay but inconsistent. His running game is his strength but he isn't running enough.

AD ,is not, and never has been a good 5/8 . Overated, and used as a battering ram for the Brooks haters.
No i'm not a Books big fan, but he is far better then the baggers make him out to be. TT, To'a , appear brain dead and lacking agression and basic talent, Laurie is not a fullback, Nofa is past it. we need genuine SPEED in the backline.
