Depend on the draw to a degree

After reading the posts on this thread it made me think.

Being a member means different things to different people. Some see it as integral to fandom; some see it as financial support; some get it for tickets; some get it for its privileges/discounts/stuff.

I see it as a symbol of my need for association with something I have a child-like passion/excitement for. Kinda like being a member of a Knight Rider club when I as a kid. It made me feel like part of a club, like an "official fan".

For me as an adult in 2015, renewing right now means a show of solidarity to the management and/or a show of unwavering commitment to the club.

In regards to the former; I hate how our management has made us a laughing stock so my head says to make a political stand in the only way I know how and don't renew right now.

But then again, my passion and desire to show support hasn't changed so my heart says renew immediately.

It's tough when rationale and emotion collide. There is no right or wrong answer.

My thinking is this, we have sucked forever and have gone through s… to get there. So why do I still love this club?
I honestly don't know. I can't explain it. It completely irrational......... and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Heart wins.

Renewing today.

Good post….it is hard to explain, does my head in too sometmes...dunno how many times after each year Ive said'' thats it...im done.'' ...yet come back the follwing...

Its called being a leaguey

Great post bigsiro. I went through a similar debate with myself, but fell down on the other side. I won't be renewing. There were a few things that swung it for me:

* I just felt like I was endorsing Wests Tigers management;
* The same management would just piss my hard-earned up against the wall;
* I'm sick of the same old plastic crap being offered in my membership every year. It trivialises my membership. I would rather one decent collectible worth half as much than 10 pieces of plastic junk. I actually wrote to the Wests Tigers membership about this and as an example I asked why do they include a lanyard in non-ticketed membership packages? The response I received was….."It's to hold your membership card and we'd like to think that becoming a member was more than just about a lanyard"!!!!!!

This is what sealed it for me. It's just indicative of a very unprofessional outfit that isn't respecting anybody at the moment. I'll still support my Tigers, but I won't support the administration of this club until it earns back some respect.

Hear you Cheffo, but the club is more than just the management- not that you shouldn't give them a piece of your mind if your unhappy with them. Hope you change your mind mate the club needs you - and your money.

Going by some of the posts by people here they should be ringing around doing the membership drive, not the players!

As for the tacky membership packs they send out, i think a lot of people aren't fans of all the unnecessary plastic crap they put in.

I'm pretty sure the other clubs send out the same stuff or similar.

I will renew but I never been so despondent about the club.

I have been going with 4-5 regulars for 10 years plus.

One has pulled the pin on his membership because of the treatment of Farah and said he won't attend another game until Taylor is gone. Right or wrong thats his view. Im not as strong as that but I have little confidence in us this season as things currently stand.

Hope to be proven wrong.

Think about this for a moment Cheffo

So your prepared to happily back the management that actually got us in this mess originally with virtually no results to support their actions ??

Yet you won't back the management that is righting the wrongs of the past management that screwed it all up by trying to take the easy options that almost destroyed this club and its current playing roster

Oh and the club is right , supporting your favourite team is far more than whether you get a lanyard or not , believe it or not
