What about the players?

Who will play for us?

Only a couple up to NRL standard

The rest are worse than the coach

You can replace the coach but who is the new coach going to coach?

Only fair if we sack the coach that the useless players that don't have a set of you know what get the sack as well

And with no one willing to sign with us that's it

End of club

I understand Madge is struggling but when we have a go we look alright

We got stuck in in the second half and even though rabbits still gave it to us and we made our usual dumb as mistakes we won the second half

Sacking the coach just justifies the players poor performances that just move on to the next coaches problem because it's easy for the players to take the easy opt ion when things get tough

Let's just tank it

This games too hard

Wel will have a new coach next week and it will buy is some time to keep going out and get smashed with no effort because the coach will cop it cos that's the wests tigers way

LL is useless bench player at best

Thought he was easily our worse today yet he us the one always in the media talking us up

Yea our edge was terrible and usually is but stuff me if they didn't have an excuse today

We didn't move up from south's 1st hit up

They were walking through us

That's on the forwards

Time to stand firm

Hold onto the coach and make our coward forward pack accountable to get their ass out there and do what they are paid to do

Big shout out to Brooks and Laurie

Hope they don't spit it and walk out on the club

Agree, Lucy has gone backwards hasn't he? He must have knee problems with all the padding he carrying or maybe he's kicking stones because of his brother?

Don’t give me knee problems he’s making decisions to avoid the collision. He’s a fraud.

He wasn’t avoiding collisions, in fact he was the only bloke breaking the line by running straight through their defensive line.
Yes, he’s not the best defender in the team but he’s not there for that.
If anything I think he’s buggered from being on the field for too many minutes (even though he himself wants to be an 80 minute player)
He would be much more effective off the bench.

One of the more important jobs on the edge is defence, especially for this team. you have to move up hard and shut down creative players. I watched him go up, stop, go up a bit more then backtrack on numerous occasions today and he does it every week. Either he has no idea or he just doesn’t care about the result. Garner does it to.

It took 2 mins to see Souths were moving up and we weren’t. Lazy/soft edge forwards are our biggest issue.

Maguire will be coach next year. Guy has been successful everywhere else. We’ve got to stop sacking every coach half way through a squad rebuild/assembly. Strap yourself in and get ready for the long haul.

That is no true, we have only ever sacked Taylor and Sheens, the rest run their contract out and were not renewed, Madge has had his chance, and failed miserably

Add in Cleary leaving and you’re basically saying Mick Potter is the only coach to see out his contract since the early 2010s. And you can hardly say Potter had time to build a roster.

A 6th coach in under 10 years would be a disaster.

I hope so, I never factored him in to my preferences, but I would take him in a heartbeat to replace our current coach

Pangai spin-fest highlights why Wests Tigers can’t get out of the hole

Michael Chammas

So apparently the Wests Tigers did a background check on Tevita Pangai jnr and, despite courting him since February, suddenly just realised on Thursday night that he wasn’t a good fit for the club.

LOL. You couldn’t get better spin out of a day-five deck in Mumbai. Was the background check done before or after they verbally offered his manager a two-and-a-half year deal worth $600,000 last week?

Was it before or after whispers began circulating late on Thursday that Pangai was more interested in joining Trent Barrett and the Bulldogs?

No one would begrudge the Wests Tigers, especially given their recent history in over-paying recruits, for making a business decision not to spend a certain amount of money on a player renowned for his inconsistency.

But to have a senior member of the organisation actively reach out to the media late Thursday night in a bid to save face speaks volumes of the club’s paranoia around a perception in rugby league circles that no one wants to go to the Wests Tigers.

At 10.02pm on Thursday night, after the Melbourne Storm had put the cleaners through the Sydney Roosters, Herald league reporter Christian Nicolussi took to Twitter following a conversation with someone at the club to reveal the Tigers had pulled out of the pursuit.

“Take it as fact,” Nicolussi posted. “Wests Tigers not in for Tevita Pangai Jr. They’ve done their homework and convinced he’s not a good fit for them.”

Had Pangai agreed to the $600,000-a-season deal, one finds it hard to believe this ‘homework’ the Tigers did would have prevented him from joining the club immediately.

Whether Pangai ends up at Canterbury or stays at Brisbane is irrelevant. Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe and coach Michael Maguire have now been left at the altar too many times and are desperate to avoid looking out of their depth.

How many more times can they convince fans that smart business, not a shortcoming in the club's recruitment ability, is the reason for not landing a player?

Perception is reality, and as a result established players at rival teams aren’t in a hurry to jump into bed with the club unless there is no other option.

They’ve recruited well when it comes to young talent - with Daine Laurie, Stefano Utoikamanu and Shawn Blore impressing - but it’s a strategy that has been forced upon them due to the reluctance of the game’s bigger names to link with Maguire at the Tigers.

The only two players they’ve signed for next year, Super League duo Jackson Hastings and Oliver Gildart, are both managed by the same player agent who has become increasingly attached to Maguire, as some at the club have noticed.

Maguire has been at the helm of the Tigers for three years. Some would argue the club has gone backwards during that time.

Sunday’s loss to the Rabbitohs only adds to the pressure on Maguire to keep his job. No doubt someone will use the second-half performance as justification as to why they still believe in the coach and that it’s the players’ fault.

It's unlikely anything will happen in regards to Maguire's future before Tim Sheens arrives later this month to run his eye over the club.

Maguire was brought to the Tigers to instil a resilience and toughness that has been lacking at the club for some years, yet after 16 weeks he has presided over the worst defensive team in the club’s history, conceding more points per game than ever before. Five wins from 16 games is also one of the club's worst starts to a season.

Things are equally grim at the Bulldogs, however the difference between the two clubs is that within a few months of taking the job, Barrett has been able to offer fans some light at the end of the tunnel through his recruitment. Matt Burton, Josh Addo-Carr, Brent Naden and now perhaps Pangai jnr are all heading to Belmore.

All the Tigers have been able to offer is the nostalgia of Sheens' return. It's hard to see the light if you're a Tigers fan. There’s only so long club officials can keep blaming Ivan Cleary.

All true...

The "we have decided he is not a good fit" line was absolute comic gold...coming 'after' we offered him a deal and 'after' he wanted more. They honestly must think we are mugs to have even tried to spun that line...

Stick a fork in Madge he's done, besides a few pretty obvious shortcomings Mbye and Packer this is basically Madges team he's either signed or resigned. I know you could argue with the salary of Mybe Packer Reynolds ect we could have been in for different players and yes thats true to an extent but this group bar Mbye are his and arent playing for him end of story. If we stick with Madge we are even more stupid than i expected.

Whilst I want him gone (voted Flanno) I don't think they'll sack Madge

We need to cut and run while we still have cap space for another coach to work with Madge cant attract players. Or even keep them on an NRL level it seems.

Anyone know if the management group Hastings and Gillart are part of have any decent players off contract or looking for a new club?

The club is not in a shambles the roster is sub par and the coach will lose his job because of it. The media is just stirring the fans into frenzy because they know where our heads are at..
Maguire may not survive but no one rates this squad other than WTs supporters with their blinkers on.

Flanagan is an absolute flog that has no integrity. I can’t believe so many have voted for him.

I think the players would respond to a coach like Ciraldo because they don't seem to respond well to our hard nosed coach
He is very good friends with my neighbours behind me
I have a street party to go to next Saturday and I will definitely be asking if he has intentions to coach 1st grade and or if he would consider the Tigers
I can only try and get some feed back
You never know
Hell I should borrow her phone for 5 minutes to get his number so I can call him myself
No I wouldn't do that to my friends
But I could
No

Ok then I won't

One that can attract players of quality

Left side: Yes you can do it.
Right side: May as well, nothing to lose
Left side: Hear that, they agree with me, do it now mate! Go go...
