Why are the Rooster better?

Without bashing the Tigers, what do you think makes the Roosters so good? They embarrassed the Tigers with no hooker, a Keary playing a new position, an ordinary 5/8 and a worse 5/8 on the bench. They also had a front rower kicking goals.

* For me it all comes down to speed and urgency
* They had 3 defenders in every tackle but never seemed to be short anywhere.
* No one in the NRL seems to be able to tackle Tedesco front on, he just bounces back and runs again
* They all compete on every play, no one is lazy

Better culture and systems too. Smarter players

For a start their team on paper is miles ahead of ours.... their culture is excellent too. Hearing ex Roosters and Storm players talk about the culture and how crazy high the standards are it's no wonder the teams are so good for so long

As soon as you do that and start winning good players want to join, then you wash rinse and repeat forever.

It all comes down to execution.

They can throw a flick, kick infield, cutout pass no matter what they want and it will stick.

We so heavily lack execution its not funny. Kicks go out in touch, passes don't find their mark, drop balls, poor offloads ect. If all of those stick we would be just as good.

That's what they do better.

Double the cap?

Wests Marquee signing spent last year in a fast food joint cause he missed home...

Don't know if the roosters have ever had a article about one of their players eating burgers.

If Joey was ever a Marquee player I'll walk to Burke.

Had a couple of good seasons and that is about it. He's now on the slippery dip.

In addition to what others have said, the level and skill of their players means they're able to play high task (based) cohesive and effective footy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all the flashy flicks etc are worked on at training or at least the players work on them themselves. I doubt the tigers starting anew would at this stage be being coached to throw flicks and off the cuff plays. They would be training very conservatively until we can expand on that.
That’s not a knock on the coach and I’m sure it’s not that the players aren’t capable.
It’s just if your training to be better why would any of the team accept plays that just look like the players are taking the preverbal.
That’s not what a successful team looks like...
But here is the thing. With the game so tight and structured you need those plays in the game to break it apart. So why wouldn’t you practice them if at the 79th minute a flick inside can be the difference between a win and a loss?

Having representative players in just about every position, and having rules bent in your favour.
Want a star junior to play for you and it's against the rules? No worries, we'll just change the rules.

And I don't buy that their 'culture' is better than ours. They've had numerous off-field player dramas over the years.
But partly due to being based in the eastern suburbs they are seen as a 'glamour club' and this helps them no end.

This thread is very timely. The coaching staff apparently ran a session where they showed all the effort plays the roosters came up with and compared it to what we did. Would liked to have been a fly on the wall...

I think culture is more about what happens on the training paddock than off it.

Like for eg the Morris brothers seem to be thorough professionals- imagine someone like Sualii who can learn things about game day prep, how to calm down in pressure situations etc. It's about being in a culture where there is a clear hierarchy with mutual respect and trust among teammates.

I don't see Laurie learning much professionalism off guys like Roberts/BJ.

They have planned kicks to where someone should be and play to that. NFL style - run zag and be there for the catch. Simple if everyone is good enough

The Morris kicks infield were a classic. He didn’t have to think about it, just get the kick righ. He didn’t even have to looks the players were there. Waiting. Not 20m back wondering where to go
