Why can't NSW stop momentum when they tackle?

It was good to see Game 1 and good to see the Blues get a win.

But one thing I noticed. Nearly every time I saw NSW get tackled, they made contact and they player virtually stopped. Only Jake Trebvovovic seemed to make a little dent.
While when Queensland hit the NSW defensive line. Once the players made contact, they kept going for another step, then they usually fell forward.

It wasn't just tonight's game. Game 2 and 3 last series I noticed the same thing. Queensland were making meters and not being stopped once tackled. NSW gets tackled and stops.

I think it's in the training and I have seen Melbourne make meters once tackled but stop the other team. Has anyone else noticed this too?
 
Gould made the point of the Qld dump-'em-hard defence that should be played but it didn't win the game for them. It only made NSW players run faster so they would not be caught and dumped.
 
Qld made an effort to be more dominant in defense, which is why NSW struggled to get out of there own half. But then this caused the Qlders to run out of gas quicker, resulting in more missed tackles, and line breaks for NSW. This tactic will likely work better for Qld at ANZ, as they'll be playing on a dewy surface which will result in the game being more of a grind. But game 3 at Suncorp should be another fast surface, so that will favour the Blues (assuming the teams go in with the same tactics).

Fafita is the best obviously but kind of feel Fitler just went for hard running players who can get quick play the ball.

Weird you say that.

Because ANZ is the win NSW will need and the home crowd will be in their favor.
While Suncorp is always the tough match.
Was it ANZ that Fifita refused to play at or Suncorp?

Anyway those big forwards in Woods, Fifita and Jackson are out. I can see Klemmer getting kicked for Ryan James, which should be interesting.

Yeah I mean obviously the home teams have an advantage at their respective venues, but if we imagined that the two venues were neutral, the conditions at Suncorp suit the Blues more than the conditions at ANZ. I don’t think Klemmer will be dropped after his performance in game 1\. If any prop was to be dropped for James, I think it’ll be Paul Vaughan

Its weird, NSW have gone from massive changes each game too superloyal.
We can CHANGE 1 FORWARD, it's great to let people play together but it should not be a privileged or having selection have players feel safe. Bring Prior and James in while telling someone else to walk.
 
Bump, any thoughts before Sunday.

Unsure if the Blues can pull it off again. Don't get me wrong, I will be barracking for them.

Yea, I was surprised at that name too.

But maybe the coaches have noticed a lack of consistency in the forwards and wanted an experienced hand around. But for a guy who hasn't played Origin before and I wouldn't rate too highly.

I would have bled Ryan James. He seems to have good energy and passion.

Been calling for James for years.
Maybe they don't like him cos he's from Tweed.
Too close to Qld for their liking, lol.
 
Slater and Gladsby will make a big difference with the defensive line and Slater will hopefully improve our attack in the middle 3rd and stop us gong sideways too early

Tight game , reckon NSW are deservedly favourites though

Just hope I get home in time for the game , my daughters dance concert goes until 7.30 pm but they always run way over time

Obviously QLD came out with intent to hammer NSW in defence, but think it was also the fact that QLD were coming off their line too early (like always) and NSW were given less time with the ball to accelerate and really run into the incoming defenders
