Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road??

….and to look for a new home. I took my wife and son to the GF yesterday (both are Dragons supporters, unfortunately) and I was shocked to see that the roosters fans were vastly outnumbered. Their turnout was nothing short of abysmal IMO. Even the Cowboys fans in 05 drew as many if not more supporters and they had to travel over 2000 clicks. If a GF appearance can't attract your supporters then nothing will. When/If the time comes for a Sydney team to relocate then I believe Nick and his boys need to strongly consider moving on.

mate that's absolute crap.. i was there as well , and i wouldn't say they were vastly out numbered at all. there were just as many roosters fans as there were saints…

I know some people that live in the E. Subs have never been west of newtown, yet travel worldwide

Hahaha good call.

Roosters "fans" are some of the biggest fakes in the league. Only got 9,000 to a home game against the Titans 2 months ago when they were fighting for a top 4 spot. I went to the Tigers game on the Gold Coast in Rd 26 and I reckon there were more Tigers fans at that interstate game than the Roosters get to home games…

Dream delivered for true Dragons believers

AT last. The Dragons are chokers no more.
In what veteran coach Wayne Bennett described as a victory for the true believers, St George Illawarra ended an 11-year dry spell and a 31-year drought for any Dragons team by swamping the Sydney Roosters 32-8 in the NRL grand final at rain-soaked ANZ Stadium last night.

As they did against Wests Tigers in the preliminary final eight days earlier, the Dragons trailed at half-time last night.

But they quickly turned an 8-6 deficit into a 12-8 lead with the first of winger Jason Nightingale's two tries, then broke the game open with two converted tries in three minutes midway through the second half for an unassailable 24-8 lead.

**Dragons fans outnumbered their Roosters counterparts in the crowd of 82,334 by at least three to one** and despite being saturated by the heavy showers that fell throughout the afternoon and evening, they stood and cheered and chanted and sang during the final 20 minutes.

Having won six titles from six grand finals in 21 years at the Brisbane Broncos, Bennett never promised anything when he arrived at the Dragons but in only his second season he has delivered the premiership for which some foot soldiers in the red and white army have been waiting a lifetime.

As St George only, the Dragons had not won a premiership since defeating Canterbury in 1979.

They endured agonising losses in title deciders in 1985 to Canterbury, 1992 and 1993 to Brisbane and 1996 to the Manly Sea Eagles, before joining forces with Illawarra in 1999 and losing a seemingly unlosable grand final to Melbourne.

The Dragons were minor premiers last year but lost consecutive games in the finals to be the first No.1- ranked team since the introduction of the McIntyre system to be eliminated in the second week of the finals.

They won a second straight minor title this year and were favourites to win last night but that was never going to be enough to satisfy their legions of long-suffering fans.

"It's been a long time coming for them and this team's earned it and they've deserved it," Bennett said.

That could not have been pretty last week…

There were alot more Dragons fans there but there were quite a few Roosters fans there too. Remember they only save 7,000 for each team's fans. I think alot of Dragons fans bought their tickets before they knew that they were in the Grand Final.

Not pretty at all. And to think that back in 2004 (son then 4yo) when I took him to Kogarah Oval to watch the Tigers V Dragons. Everything up until that point was was black and gold for him. The first thing he sees when we get there was the Dragons Mascot who hugged him which he thought was great and it's been the Dragons ever since. To make matters worse they put 50 on us that day and copped a hefty fine for parking in a bus zone for my troubles. Should have stayed at home that day. My wife, although not big into RL began following them once the boy settled on a team.

Oh well at least he has got to experience the euphoria of a premership at such a young age. It took me 33 years.

I wasnt there but thats not the way it looked on tele,…..

I was there and the Dragons Fans definitely outnumbered the Roosters fans. I commented on how poor an effort it was but thats pretty much how most Roosters fans are, quick to mouth off but cant be bothered getting to games. There were 16 of us 11 Dragons 2 Tigers 2 Eels and 1 Rooster …. If we had made it through it would have been 11 Tigers 3 Dragons & 1 Rooster. Not to mention most of the Roosters fans in our section 117 - 118 left with 15 minutes to go ..... I couldnt walk out on the Tigers no matter how much they were down !

I thought the same thing before the Souths game this year.

Than again the team left early that day to

wow, a lack of rooster support at a game…...that's unheard of! mate they are a joke of a 'fanbase'. if politis wasn't around they'd be completely goooone
