1\. Qld always give 100%. their enthusiasm ALWAYS is much greater than NSW with the possible exception of Gallen. Not good enough NSW!!
2\. Slater kicked better than all of NSW! He's what, qld's 4th kicker? We kick down their throat and they kick the ball to within 2 metres of the line and push us over for 6 again. It sets us up for a hiding every time.
3\. I told you so, Ricky! Lack of props ain't gonna work twice! Scott and Civenociva ran riot." and set qld platform every set. Sterlo just said no props is the way of the future :crazy HELLO! We got flogged. Back to the drawing board. Perennial underachievers Morris, Gidley and Creagh are never going to turn itaround for NSW. The same players play well and bad every game and selectors can't separate them?! Pick Hayne Lewis Gallen Bird Soward Dugan Uate and start from scratch for the rest of the positions.

Agree 100%
Sterlo says some really stupid things sometimes.
Both Scott and Thurston poured water on the suggestion.
That again is just more arrogance from NSW.
Try and win a series before you try and change the way the game is played.

4\. They are blessed with a spine who are the best in their positions. Smith, Thurston, Lockyer and Slater. Until they are missing thru either injury or retirement, we will not win. Sad but true.

I agree, but if you get the first three right you can challenge the fourth.

So true mate…end of an era. Is Locky going to play in the 4 nations at seasons end? Maybe we havent seen the last of this remarkable spine.

And not just the spine… If you look at the queensland team, there is at least 1 obvious selection in each position and most of these are then obvious selections in the Australian team.

Fullback - Slater (Qld and Aus)
Wing - Yow Yeh (Qld - maybe Aus) and Boyd (Qld)
Centre - Inglis (Qld and Aus) and Hodges (Qld and Aus)
5/8 - Lockyer (Qld and Aus)
Halfback - Thurston (Qld and Aus)
Back row - Thaiday (Qld and Aus) and Myles (Qld)
Prop - Scott (Qld and Aus) and Petrol (Qld and Aus)
Hooker - Smith (Qld and Aus)

If you compare this with the NSW team, where Gallen is about the only obvious selection it shows why they are so dominant... they have an awesome team (and as a NSW supporter that is REALLY hard to say). :frowning:

Crap. The passion thing is BS . It's easy to talk about passion when you're winning. Funny how Qld passion went missing in action when they lost 3 straight series including a 50 point thrashing - the biggest in Origin history.

My comments on your post are:-
1. While I agree the “effort” from Queensland does appear (and may well BE) to be greater than NSW, it is easy to be enthusiastic when you are winning and are winners. My belief is that by playing a team that contains players, who have consistently lost to Queensland, they start off with the thought they cannot win and effort suffers!
2. Kicking and kick returns have been a problem for NSW, since Johns retired. Many NRL players need to be taught how to kick correctly to get their best result.
3. Look at the stats from SOO2 and SOO3:-
Civenociva 9(63m) 20(190m)
Scott 10(94m) 14(133m)
Myles 12(100m) 15(99m)
Thaiday 16(77m) 7(54m)
Harrison 15(94m) 9(60m)
Parker 10(60m) 14(100m)
Taylor 8(74m) 14(100m)Lillyman
Hannant 8(55m) 8(76m)
Did Ricky think Queensland were going to be caught out twice by a team of midgets?

I suggested in another thread that we need to “scrap” several players, because they have NOT performed well in SOO, after many attempts. I got yelled down by some.
If you go with the same team next year, you will get the same result. This does not mean a wholesale scrapping, but as you suggested keep say, Hayne, Lewis, Gallen, Bird, Soward, Dugan and Uate and maybe one or two more and build from there. BUT, use some new, younger players, who have NOT been blown away by Queensland in the past, and let them build some experience of SOO. Those who “grow into SOO with the experience” will add to the team base around which you build the team. Those, who don’t do well are replaced by other, young players. This is what Queensland have done for years, SUCCESSFULLY!

TLL needs to start for a series to prove himself. Runs amok in City Country but too inconsistent for Origin?! WTF? When was Wally ever consistent at club level? Galloway needs game time after a bit of face-slapping by Tommy Raudonikis. Snowden dumped after 1 game? There are plenty of options. These are not yet disproven unlike Morris et al. Larence hasn't yet played Origin nor Ayshford. Who else? There must be heaps. Last chance next year for Farah with Ennis now 2/7 with next to no highlights.

NSW has to find themselves some G.I type players who are great club footballers who can handle pressure situations.

Ingliss doesnt kill it week in week out at club level but you put him in a finals game or a rep jumper and he plays like an immortal.

There are 5 or 6 guys in the current blues side who dont have the x factor required to handle the step up.

If I was a selector, I would pay very close attention to the final 2 months of this season. Not on the tried and tested 'named' players but on those considered to be fringe reps.

From our side….Farah, Lawrence, Galloway and Heighington for example. They are all considered fringe players with others in front of them. They all play in positions where NSW are weak.

Triple B most NSW players lack a spine like their coach and their selectors Obviously one of the criteria of being a NSw selector is having an IQ lower than a squashed bug (No ,not you Bug )
