Canterbury-Bankstown supporters don't realise what they are in for next year with the additions of Corey Payne, Mickey Paea and Dene Halatau to the forward. All three add impact and aside from Eastwood the Bulldogs bench did lack impact. In fact, Payne should be in the No.11 jersey ahead of Gary Warburton. Payne is an excellent worker like Warburton, but added to that he's aggressive, can hit a hole and has under-used ball skills, which should shine at the Bulldogs.

Halatau and Paea on the bench will give the Bulldogs interchange rotation some variety and certainly more starch than Gordon or Jarrad Hickey, who are both fantastic people with a good attitude, but not in the class of Halatau or Paea. Hickey has been training the house down and is facing up to the challenge of Paea's arrival at the Bulldogs. Gordon will be a better player for the 2009 experience, but it may not be enough to get him into the 2010 side as Halatau and Payne are more at this stage more attractive options.

   ….....this was just way to funny not to post..........

What the hell where we thinking letting them go..........

ha ha, at least they took the players we didn't need. I wouldn't even be suprised if payne and halatau don't even play off the interchange bench!! payne showed signs of improvement towards the end of the season for us, but for what he was doing he clogged up 150k on our salary cap which could be spent on good youth i.e taumata. Halatau WAS a dangerous dummy-half option and I think his preferable position was hooker. But we already have farah and I didn't entertain the prospect of playing him in the back row.

Both Payne and Halatau were used and played incorrectly by Sheens. They will both do fine jobs for the Bulldogs under a different coach.

 Used incorrectly….....Payne was a second rower who mostly played in the second row........I think the Dogs have brought Halatau as a bench player much like he was used by Sheens...cover for the backs and backrow/hooker......

They will be asked to do much the job as they did with us........If they do it better that might say something......

Payne is a wide running ballplaying 2nd rower. Sheens played him as a ruck tightening type of interchange and couldn't decide if he wanted him at prop or 2nd row.
Halatau is a ballrunning lock good for keeping the ruck tight on either side. Sheens played him all over the friggin' shop centre, hooker, 2nd row, lock.

Payne wasn't used as a wide running ball playing second rower at the Dragons when he came too us….he was brought largely for his aggression to tighten up the middle of the ruck........

Halatau...keeping the ruck tight.......now I know it's a gee up.....

Mutts over performed in 09,Have no real depth apart from Kimorly being on fire, no real stand outs

They struggled to put us away without benji and a few others earlier in the season. came down to a missed goal if I recall.

My Tip is for them to barly make the 8.

Good luck to them. They're both good blokes and while they didn't set the world on fire at the Tigers, they've still got a chance to make a living out of what they enjoy. Personally I don't think either player will add much to the Dogs but that's neither here nor there nowadays.

highly doubt that. the bulldogs will be up there again. just watch the new improved halatua and payne. 2 altogether different coaching styles.

No surprises Laffranchi and Harrison went on to play better footy under different coaches. 2009 saw the WT use about 15 different players in the number 13 jersey and STILL the correct player was not selected there. Go figure..

You pick out 2 players who you say are far better players since the left from under Sheens Coaching…....

Maybe you can help me out .........Here's a list of player's departed since '06......Which one's have gone on to be far better players at other Clubs or even had a career....

2006 Released/Went To Other Clubs-O/S
Rangi Chase, Mick Crockett, Shane Elford, Keith Eashman, Ben Reynolds , Sam Harris, Ben Jeffrey, Anthony Laffranchi, Jamal Lolesi, Scott Prince, Chris Paterson and John Skandalis.

2007 Released/ Went To Other Clubs-O/S
Ben Galea, Paul Whatuira, Jason Moodie, Issac De Gois and of course Daniel Fitzhenry...

2008 Released/ Went To Other Clubs/O/S
Bronson Harrison, Stuart Flanagan, Tevita Metuisla, Brett Hodgson, Ryan O’Hara, Jarred Saffy, Ben Teo, Ryan Tandy and Mathew Head....

For that matter which players would you have retained from '09 apart from Halatau and Payne...If we didn't have Sheens as a Coach....

2009 Released/Went To Other Clubs-O/S
Shannon McDonnell, Rhys Hanbury, Danny Galea, John Morris, Dean Collis, Rocky Trimarchi, Peni Tagive, Dene Halatau, Corey Payne, Wayde Dunley and Shannon Gallant...Oh and Daine Laurie

You don't like the fact we can't sign players,,,play them out of position....there is only 1 player I'd really like back from that list ........Hodgo.....but who are we getting.......Fitzhenry......

Who is the Correct No 13 CT ?????

Exelent work Geo on that list. Scott Prince is the player that I miss most. I ray that Moltzen or Taumata really make an impact in the no 7.
