Why we need to finally WIN the spoon

You could almost go so far as to say our future depends on us winning the spoon this season. When you hit rock bottom you make dramatic changes. When we're consistently close but not quite good enough that's when you think tinkering here or there will do the job. But it won't.

Our attack is awful. Our defence is worse. And it's somehow getting worse.

We need to change things off the field. Move Pascoe from CEO to CCO, bring in someone who can lead this club.

Sack Madge and all assistant coaches. Everything we do is reliant on individual skill, we don't even resemble a team.

Get rid of a large number of our first grade squad and get players who might be able to play a role in the future.

Move on/don't re-sign:
Brooks
Joey
Roberts
Talau
Hoffman
Kepaoa
Nofoaluma
Tamou
Musgrove
Garner
Chee Kam
Walters
Mbye
Seyfarth

If Twal and Joffa swap places then they can stay, both are borderline though being played horribly out of position.

We need to start promoting our flegg and nsw cup players and use the 6-700k to sign some players that can make an immediate impact this season. This season is all about building for 2022, let's actually do a proper rebuild and take a holisicitc view, with everything being about developing our players (but not totally throwing them to the wolves in one go) so that they are indivudally and collectively ready for next season.

Winning a couple more games on and off will only ensure nothing changes. So screw it, let's suck and expect to lose but come out all teh better for it next season!

Agree with everything but winning the spoon.
We don't have to get it for change to be enacted. Everyone can see where we are at, there can't be much further to fall....

Talau
Hoffman
Kepaoa
Seyfarth
if ur rebuilding why would u get rid of these guys ???
why not give them time to devlope i mean ur gonna lose anyways right ???

Used to think this but if the club hierarchy can't see the problem then a wooden spoon isn't going to fix it.

What's more, we thought they were past dumb decisions but we have a few blokes signed for way too long.

Honestly time to wield the axe in a big way and then pick and stick with the best youth we have.

None of them have positions. Talau is not an NRL centre or winger. Neither is Hoffman, neither is Kepaoa. Kepaoa maybe could, but would need to spend all of 2022 in nsw cup.

Talau, we've tried to manufacture him into an outside back despite him never having played there before. It hasn't worked. Second row/lock is his last remaining option. We can dream he might turn into the Schuster type player that he was originally destines to be. We can start playing him there in nsw Cup,

Seyfarth is just a plodder. Our whole pack are workers, we don't have room for him. Twal keeps his spot as the top plodder we have as he is solid if extremely one dimensional.

Hoffman is just far too slow to ever play backs in the NRL. He's not a Momorovski type player who's IQ and overall game is good enough to negate his lack of pace.

The statement would be true if there was a draft system in place. The way NRL works, the bad gets worse and good gets better.

Hasn’t done much for the Broncos so far

I bet Brisbane turn it round faster than we do .....and they will have another club in their backyard to contend with in 18 mths

Newcastle won 3 in a row ..
We’d get 10 in a row .

Does it get any worse than when the most passionate fans actually think that losing might finally be what we need so that the club can fully regenerate???

Wests have won multiple spoons without a turn around. We seem to like the battler tag.
Loser club.

I think the Balmain side, of which I am from , can only remember 1 from memory . The infamous Alan jones year . Still I gotta say , it’s probably a good thing , for so many years we’ve been waiting for promise , and they’ve delivered is mediocrity . At least now we can build around some juniors . But youth means losses unfortunately .

We need rock bottom Izo ...sorry ..nothing will change until that happens

is spoon rock bottom? Surely getting 30-40 put on your every round has to have you close to rock bottom.

We just don't know how to build a club. A wooden spoon won't teach us that. We've no idea.
