Why will we improve next year?

Because it is hard to go as badly as we have the last couple of years? Seriously with a lot of young players, there should be natural growth and improvement, and if this does not happen, the club needs to take a good look at those players and the coach.

I think the coach has to go unless something drastic happens soon. He has been basically beyond ordinary. The players will also need to be reassessed especially Brooks and Moses. You can't build a team around inconsistent players.

I hope that our halves and JT come good and they all get contract extensions and good salaries because that will mean we are winning games.

I agree would love to see Taylor succeed, because as you said to succeed it means we would be winning games. Although being a realist I can not see that happening, so rather than dragging our sub standard performances on for yet another year it, come season end will probably time for a new direction and a new man in charge. We just can not keep going along like we are now and I fail to see what is going to change in the next 12 months if we keep JT in charge.

In saying all the above who to say a new man will have any more success, but I guess you have to try

Exactly. You have to make an attempt. I reckon Potter was going fine and there were good signs. There is no way Taylor is travelling half as well.

We will only get better once JT is punted and Farah leaves for another club/ESL. Only then can we really say we are having a fresh start and evaluate things.
Besides, with the amount of coin Farah is on, when he leaves we will be able to buy possibly 2 -3 quality players. That will make a HUGE difference and may be all we need to build a new culture.
I'm hoping Farah leaves at the end of the year. I respect what he has done for us in the past but we can't really move on as a club until he's out the door.
New culture = wins = more TPAs = better players.

That in a nutshell is what is needed however making it happen will not be easy. The hostility needs to removed from the club and a new coach appointed asap.Hopefully Robbie also gets a gig in UK.

You had me Chadman until "Brooks, in my opinion, has taken a few steps in the last month while Moses plays like a rookie".
I think it is the other way around. I also think they should be played the other way round i.e. Moses half and Brooks 5/8.

Hey Russell - I too think that's worth a try. For the most part, our halves have been too predictable. JT has them playing one side of the ruck each, where as it seems to me that their best strength is in their understanding of each other's games and their combination. I'd be looking to swap them around throughout a game and to play them on both sides at times during the game. Keep the opposition guessing instead of being so predictable. This happened in the Broncos game a couple of times and Brooks received the ball 2 off the ruck (ET was first receiver) he looked much more damaging and creative running to the line with the extra bit of space. Also 'Broses' combined on the same side of the ruck a few times and it really added another dimension to our attack.

Just got my CEO's update email, no hints of anything to get excited about in the near future. On a positive note they seem to be improving their revenue streams outside of football, but as for anything to give me any hope for next game and beyond,,,,,nothing

Look, maybe I’m seeing life as a WT member through my gold and black eye, but I think we have a lot to look forward to in 2017/18.

The halves look like they want to stay long term and if we can keep Teddy long term with Woods and the others our future is bright.

We just need a gun centre and a gun second rower to really step up next year and beyond . I think JT can be a good coach and like our young team will only grow into the Head Coach role the longer he stays with us.

Moving him on should not be on the agenda at this time…

The only times we have been successful (2004-2005, 2010-11) was when we went out and bought proven quality and big names.

04 - Hodgson, Prince, Whaturia, Payten

09-10 - Ellis, Tuqiri

We cant keep going to the recycle bun and hoping to buy gold.

However if were not in a position YET to buy 1-2 really good players im happy to not waste it by signing 5-6 recycled/reserve grade standard players.

1 or 2 quality players is all it takes to turn it right around.

To be fair, Hodgson, Prince, Whatuira & Payten were plucked out of other teams reserves.

The real development of the team came from the implementation of good youth players with them.

Now, isn't that where the Tigers are now? Grant, Taylor, Alioia, Chee Kam, Nauqama - plucked out of other teams reserves.

The difference, as I see it, is that Sheens had 2 experienced "spine" players mixed with 2 really good up & coming stars of their time- Hodgson, Marshall, Prince & Farah. Now, we have 3 up & comers & 1 guy that is in conflict with the HC. Tedesco is pretty much a bona fide star now. Farah is on a rapid decline, and doesn't play like he wants to be part of the solution. Brooks, in my opinion, has taken a few steps in the last month while Moses plays like a rookie.

The key is getting our spine to correctly control a football game. The rest of the squad is probably good enough. It's a genuine pity that Ballin is injured, as I believe he is the exact type of player required for Brooks & Moses.

Apart from that I think you, Eddie, pHyR3 and TigerSJ are all pretty much on the money. Good constructive posts all of you.

I think he has taken a few steps, just in the last month. He seems more willing to attack the defence now, which I think is a positive. He's nowhere near where we need him to be, but I'll take forward progress right now. My biggest issue with Brooks, Moses & Farah is the inability to generate repeat sets of 6\. Against the Roosters last week, that was the single biggest difference. Roosters scored nearly all their points on the back of extra sets of 6 against our defence. We can't do the same in response. Once that short attacking kicking game is sorted out, I feel we look at a different team.

Moses simply doesn't inject himself enough. He is more the flash to Brooks' organisation. That is why I think Brooks at 7, Moses at 6 works best. Moses doesn't get involved anywhere near enough to be 7\. But as the link man, when we are flowing, he can be very good.
