Will tedesco play

I even more unsure if Moltzen can make an impact from wing. Will he pass it to the full-back to run back?

Tedesco is no stranger to the wing position.
I remember he scored 4 tries playing for NSWCCC v QLD a few years back playing left wing.

If If If…he plays tonight I suggest it would be left wing.

Every man and his dog knows Tedesco should be playing fullback ahead of Moltzen..God forbid if Teddy gets injured playing out of position…At least you know with Teddy he will put his body on the line, the only thing Moltzen put's on the line is his signature on a contract and most aren't happy with that !!1

Regardless of where Tedesco plays, IF he does play tonight lets make sure we don't crucify him with expectation. This will be only his 2nd game in first grade and his first game ended badly. he's also still young. He will be very good but that may not happen immediately.
Then again, it might

Tedesco playing wing as cover for injury is not in the Sheens category of playing Lawrence/Fulton/Ayshford/Humble/Moltzen at 5-8th.

Agree with Hbom and foreveratiger, people have p#*#*d and moaned on here for years about how Sheens continually played blokes out of position but yet they think it is the best thing since sliced bread that Tedesco will be in the side on the wing, I can't see the logic.
If Teddy gets a run, play him at fullback where he can back up through the middle of the park. Having said that Moltzen has been solid the last few weeks so probably deserves to keep his spot….just. Don't think Moltzen would offer any value on the wing or in the centres, not enough bulk IMO.

Sheens didn't invent moving playing out of position. Its been going on since day dot. Where we went wrong was the constant shuffle, and crazy selections every single week.

I'd be interested if anyone could point out a modern day coach who didn't shuffle players around over their career.

Any change that adds Tedesco into the side for _this week_ needs to have minimal impact on the structure that they have been training and playing in for the last few weeks. Suggestions of shifting Teddy here and Moltzen there, Lawrence to the wing, etc. etc. is madness.

For this week at least:
1\. Moltzen
2\. Teddy

or

1\. Teddy
2\. Moltzen

Reassess next week (long week prep: Thu to Mon).

Yeah true but no one did it more than us last year and also using 3 reserves last year and having a utility sitting on the bench for the full 80 minutes unused…. If you say wing... he wouldn't be as affective there , why not use Nofo he is a specialist winger?

Bad Luck for Utai, if Teddy goes okay and Iam sure he will, the door may close on Utai for good.

Not sure that is such a bad thing Supercoach. Utai has been good for us but he and Lote have stayed a year too long IMO. Time to blood the new breed of Nofo, Koro and Tedesco (when Koro returns of course).

Maybe Nofo isn't ready. And there is little doubt Tedesco is a greater prospect over him.

Also Tedesco started in NYC on the wing, its not a foreign position. Not to mention wing/fullback have many similar elements.

Also I think (if Potter goes with Teddy on the wing) it will suit the long term prospects of the team, not just tonight. Getting Tedesco much needed experience in 1st grade against quality players, without the greater pressure of taking over a spine position.

I can definitely see the apprehension in moving players around, we are all gunshy after last year. But we shouldn't be scared off the possibility completely.

If you listened to the interview yesterday Potter said he would not promote players from the NYC as he viewed NYC as 3rd grade. For whatever reason Nofo is playing 3rd grade although he played a couple of trials for NSW cup as did Brooks.

Many of us would love to see Teddy get a game tonight but from what I saw last week his 3 tries were a result of backing up breaks towards the middle of the field, he wouldn't get the chance to do that from the wing. Also, when was the last time he actually played on the wing?

I am all for him getting in the top side and hopefully staying there but we have to be careful not to get too ambitious in regards to changing the side around…Manly are a classy side and will punish us mercilessly if we gamble and get it wrong.

If Teddy is playing, have him at the back doing what he does best, not trying to improvise.

Common sense guys you would not put someone that has not played Wing since god knows how long on the Wing on pretty much his debut. Potter would obviously have thought about this and knows that Moltzen should be wing or center…if I were potter this is what I would be looking at this round:

1\. Tedesco
2\. Lawrence
3\. Moltzen
4\. Ayshford
5\. Reddy

And when Koro is back go in for Reddy. I don't want Moltzen dropping back on last rather have him defending the wing.
