Was thinking to myself….

With all the Players that we have off Contract next year, i thought to myself is our Club going to have the Balls to cut ties with players they have heavily invested in the past and come to the conclusion that really they are simply not up to it......the Potential and Promise shown in the lower Grades can't be replicated in 1st Grade.

You might guess who i'm refering to ? Yes Brooks . If he doesn't have a breakout year next year i think that we must come to the conclusion that he simply isn't going to be what we hoped he would be .
If we are to believe that his on $600,000 for 2017 ? what is he going to be asking for 2018 and onwards , his Manager will be asking for $700,000 - $800,000 there after i'm guessing .

Then there could be a possibility that Teddy and Moses will only sign if Brooks is retained aswell , like a package deal , then our Club will sign Brooks for the purpose of retaining Teddy and Moses .
Then the player power starts all over again.

I honestly think we can't keep both Moses and Brooks past 2017 , does anyone fear we are going to pay massive chunks of our Salary Cap just on our halves ?

Moses and Tedesco are the priorities, that is undeniable. Brooks needs to step up big time next yr, otherwise he'll be another Siro, all hype, no substance. I don't really buy the ''package deal'' stuff. We'll see how they feel about that when the offers come in. And if the club was to choose not to sign Brooks, that would mean more money for the other 2.

I honestly can't see us losing Tedesco. Moses could be touch and go. Brooks, regardless of what happens next yr, i think the club will make him an offer for 2018, but it could significantly less than his mates.

Teddy did sound quite laid back in regards with him signing a new deal and said would sit down with the Club at Seasons end….i'm quite sure he would want to know who the halves will be just like what Coach the Club has in mind from 2018 onwards .

I would give Moses a further year. Teddy is a great player but gee he has spent some time in sick bay. players arent going to be resigning for our amazing facilities, TPAs and finals track record - at least it gives them incentives to stay

2018 is the Year of off Contract for the entire NRL..

Brooks and Moses as a combination sit just behind Milford and Hunt in all key areas…What we need to look at is getting more players around them to make their job easier..

As mentioned, Mose and Tedesco are priorities.

If there is most left, we can sign brooks for a reduced fee. The only chance they have to stay together is to stay here, no other club can take all of them and thats a reality i think they all understand. Not even sure that is their priority.

If we offer Brooks $550 for 3years, and the dogs offer $700 for 3 years, where would you go? Is it worth staying with your mates for $150? That will be his call to make.

There will be lots to spend in 2018, so i think they will each hold out as long as possi le, as you would. But the club needs to be strong, and if they havent renewed by May, I'd start waving my money elsewhere, and if they go, then so be it.

We are in the box seat if they truly want to stay together.

I don't buy the package deal ultimatum to be honest, though stranger things have happened.

$700k for a halfback won't be a bad deal at all come the new salary cap in 2018.
End of the day, Brooks value will be driven by his performance. If he struggles again next year, then he won't be getting big $$ anywhere.

I wouldn't be too worried about Teddy. He suffered a few impact injuries (Jaw, nose, shoulder) this yea. As long as he is not having multiple ACL (he has had one) PCL, hamstring injuries he should be fine.

For mine he is priority one, then Moses, Woods, daylight and Brooks.

Actually that's a good point about his injuries. Teddy is the priority.

I still think that the 3 could be great but, Brooks does go missing, I've read in other posts that a specialist coach be hired to work with these guys, I think that's a good idea and could realy help.

If Benji Is valued at $300K per season than Brooks is worth about $200K in my opinion.

yep im with you mate

he'll come along in leaps and bounds with another preseason and most improtantly no knee injury.

the last 2 months i feel hes either been injured or playing injured

before that he was top 3-5 in the NRL on LBA and TA. barely got another one the rest of the year

The way I see it Tedesco and Woods are the priority. Pascoe/O'Neil should already have started negotiations with both because come November 1 they will be free to talk to other clubs.
Moses/Brooks will take their lead from Tedesco and either re-sign or follow him out the door.

I read that Penrith are offering Moylan a $2.8M dollar deal to lock him up. I assume that's $700K for 4 years.
They still have a top roster around him and have to put an updated contract to young gun Nathan Cleary as well as Bryce Cartwright. The point is they are trying to act now.

We have to get our balance right. Priorities on money offered and if rejected, who then is available elsewhere and at what price?

Do we redign Brooks? He is on a reported $600k pa. If Brooks knocks us back who is available for $600k or less? This is where you decide to spend more on Tedesco, Moses & Woods and play a lesser half back. Do you move Moses to half back and find another 5/8? At what price? Who is in the lower grades that can hold their own?

All teams have to get the balance right on offering contracts.

We always pay overs because we don't have many friends at the big end if town.

We don't need world beaters in other positions but we need improvements on what we currently have.
