Big Willie blew .09 on his way to training

Full story on the ninemsn page

Seems like the party days at Newcastle are back

Ben Rogers has 2 assault charges against him and Dane Gagai went missing after a big night at the emerging SOO stars camp in which Bennett was in charge of

Add this to the Packer fiasco and its fun , fun ,fun down the Hunter way

read a news article earlier on mason and saw he blew 0.09 and thought that's not TOOO bad considering the limit is 0.05 (illegal yes, but i thought he'd be off his face or something). then i read 'on his way to training'

jeez…..he really shouldn't be drinking, doesn't have that many brain cells to begin with.

0.09 "not TOOO bad"? You're kidding right? Nearly 2x the legal limit and it's not too bad? Madness.

It didn't take long for the Party Boy tricks.

Lets see what Bennett does now with some of his rowdies, seeing he is a strict disciplinarian, lol

Me thinks he only takes action if he has plenty of talent at his disposal and Newcastle is certainly not Brisbane or St George.

Glad we didn't sign him. Folkes was spot on

Over the alcohol limit whilst driving to training. He might of had trouble remembering the training drills that day. Going on his past record I don't think it bothered him too much. Bennett however might have a different view than one of his star players.

I'm no fan of Masons however he blew 0.072\. How many of us can hand on hearts say we have had a big night and not driven the next morning at the risk of being slightly over. Let's not make this something it isn't.

I remember me and a few others copping it from a some on this forum when I said last year that I wouldn't have Mason at the Tigers. All I got was ''Oh how good is going at the Knights" and "Another stuff up by the Tigers Management who are incompetent because we should have picked him up" or the favourite "He has turned the corner, we should have grabbed him"

Well, where are the Willie supporters now….........

I don't think there is a need to say anything more...

Not condoning what he's done whatsoever, but it's not as if he's been drinking and driven that night. He's obviously been out for Australia Day, gone to bed, got up, and unfortunately blown over the next day. I was a bit dusty after last night too and luckily got to drive home later today from a mates. I know a guy who did the right thing, crashed at a mates, waited til mid afternoon the next day but still blew over. It's unfortunate and wrong and thankfully himself and others weren't hurt. He's manned up and apologized on national tv and he'll be charged and pay for it, people make mistakes.

I'm a strong believer all cars should be fitted with breathalizers that stop the car from starting until the legal limit is reached. RBT's remain and if you have a sober person start your car for you, say instant year imprisonment as the penalty. Deaths from drink driving would be more than halved in my opinion. But hey, I'm no pollie.

It would be quite expensive to make it law. I think it's the only reason why it's not law now.

Surely there's a way around a sober person starting it. A censor in the seat that recognises when the person starting the vehicle has got out of it and shuts the car down.

thats a little excessive and prone to malfunction imo.

also, cant the other guy just reach over and blow into it?

You would be hoping the players are laying off the booze getting ready for the start of the season. A few drinks yeah, but not overs the next morning. Can't be good for fitness.

or you could think of it in beers. what's that, 2 or 3 beers?

With the huge build which Mason has I am sure that it would have taken more than 2 to 3 beers to get 0.09\. I wonder what reading Russell Packer, who has a similar build to Mason, had after his latest incident?

Im one

Youre brilliant….

Not condoning what he's done, but on field stuff and off field are two seperate things

While we dont need attention for off field incidents like these, it doesnt take away from the fact we could have well used his impact he provided for their forwards on field...

...but you knew.

You are condoning what he has done if you think that.

I'd rather lose than have a team full of grubs.

It's that simple.

It was the following morning ,imagine what he was when he went to bed

The football and non football side should be kept aside but the NRL needs to stand him down for a month to make a statement

yea exactly. initially i thought it was 0.09 on the way home, but 0.09 in the morning is really disrespectful to his club and the NRL as a whole with training the next day. dunno if he should be stood down but a fine is definitely in order from the integrity unit.
