Its not the way forward for our club. Willie has done very well for the Knights, but he is way to old and his career is on the wind down.

Going out on a limb here but I reckon big free willie mason could be a good buy for us.
Especially if we could get him cheap. He wants to play one more year desperately.
I reckon we could get him cheap like 150k a year. The amount of go forward and experience he could give us of the bench would be excellent for the club and team.
I know he is old but I reckon he could offer us so much. Thoughts?

The horse has bolted. We had our chance, but he was beneath the sponsors and a lot of supporters, so we picked up razor Ray instead. Played about 5 games, wooo

What's the point of introducing a player for 1 year? By the time he gels with the team the contract would end.
Stick to young blood or those worth the coin in their prime. No more bandages for quick fixes.

This year has set us back a few peg, a lot of good works been undone….it shouldve been three years minimum since Potter arrived but I think our timeframe to climb the ladder has been extended.
Not sure on Willy, we'd just bring him down to our level....no one player is going to make a world of difference to us

Mason has a terrible track record of ruining club cultures.
Just go back to previous clubs… He is not the senior player that will develop junior players. He never has and he never will. Perhaps he has just been unlucky three times. Even if that is the case it is not worth the risk that it's not just a coincidence.
Our single focus is our young guns. Keep it that way.

Then it is fortunate that we don't have a club culture to ruin!
:smiley: I said before in another thread,Willie at 34 not really suitable,we have good forward prospects that will have benefitted from this year.This is only my opinion,but we need to replace Rowdy with a specialist centre who wants to take it forward.Iam not knocking Rowdy but his best is past him and I don't think he ever got over the horrendous injury he suffered although he tried.If we have a good offseason and the injured players all recoup and become fit again then I think we can plan ahead with our top squad and hopefully they stay healthy and give us hope of a great finish in 2015.Willie would offer something short term but I would rather see the young forwards take us forward,they do have Woods Farrah and Thompson to learn from.(I left out mentioning Mick Potter as a learning curve because we don't know yet if he is going to be with us,I really hope he is.) 😛ray:

Very interesting to see the outcome. If Willy does end up signing with us, will the club starting signing all the other troubled players. It's funny because the last time Willy was in negotiations with us, the WT did say on behalf of the club and sponsors that they will not lower the clubs image by signing serial pests. How times have changed, are we really a club that can provide proper welfare and support to those in need. Could the lunatics really be running ….................
