Willie mason ???

How is this a pointless thread ? I mean its December and a former aussie rep is looking for a club and it so happens that we have chased him in the past .
The last time he was in the nrl i was under the impression it was at the cowboys and from memory he was one of their better players in a struggling team.
I just feel that he may be worth a shot thats why i started the thread .
if you feel its a pointless thread then cool thats soemthin i disagree with .

He is a million times better than Bell, (Bell is a VERY average player) but signing him would cost cash and why have Bell and Mason on the books when we could have kept an absolute machine in Bryce Gibbs or a 2012 Origin rep in Andrew Fifita.

Referring to your comment Balmain Bug, about buying Bell and possibly Mason VS keeping Gibbs and Fifita.

Whilst I agree that keeping them would have been better for next year, I think part of the reason for letting Fifita go is his attitude. I remember going to the open training session before the finals game V the Dragons and his attitude for someone hoping to play was atrocious - especially before a finals game.

I know his future was already sealed at this stage, but I still feel it was unprofessional of him considering the team had not been finalised.

i think its pointless to talk about because he wouldn't even be the slightest smudge on the the tigers radar

What a shame however that the Mason ego and attitude has held him back.

He wont be remembered for his impact on the game (which could have been so much greater) but for being a goose!

I mean imagine if we had Mason with his head screwed on right…

usually there is no point to it simply because it won't happen.

Agree Willow, Gibbs is way more likely to play Origin in 2012 than Fifita.

Hi guys, we are one of the clubs who have been in talks with mason. WT are only offering a one year deal don't know about the money side of it but I believe it to be a second tier contract. I'm unfortunately on holidays from work as of tomorrow so I won't be able to find much else out until the new year.

Enjoy your holidays smoking gun, thanks for the heads up. I'm a little hesitant about this signing, he's had some bad press. Although as a cheap offseason pickup, and some guidance from Sheens. He may turn out to be a handy depth or impact bench player. And perhaps in his older age and may give it a real go before retirement. Surely it would have to be his last club signing.

I have to admit i would be very annoyed off if it happens.We have lost a good club man playing his best footie like Gibbs and sign this cancer.I know there is a huge money difference but i could never justify signing Mason i would rather see it going to our young guns coming through who are the future of our club
