I think we've all seen that Kepaoa is not up to first grade. We all have eyes so I'm not even going to bother explaining why.

The question is who do we have to come in and replace him?

Talau? Then we're short a centre.

Kei? Didn't play on the weekend, unproven on the wing.

Hoffman? I don't think he's a winger, and doesn't look ready in the centres either.

Cini? Thought he was impressive on the weekend at fullback, and did alright in the trials on the wing.

We have been linked to Naden and Corey Oates in the last week, so it's obvious the club is looking. Personally, I think Oates would be a good option, he has errors in him too, but he can do some really good things as well. Not a huge fan of Naden.

Signing Naden is a much better decision. A player yet to peak, struggling to crack it in a solid side. Much more upside for a lot less coin. Signings like that make competitive teams into premiership teams.

Isn't Naden a centre though?

I just feel as though Oates is shot physically, Naden offers far more upside, but from all report he is fairly average defensively also. Keen to give Gebbie a go, but he might need at least a game or two in reserves first.
Fitzgibbon keeps appearing on the score sheet in reserves, does anyone know how the rest of his game is going?
I think it's also worth noting that the POM said Kepaoa is carrying a knee injury, and yesterday was only his 8th FG game, so I'm not ready to write him off yet, but he has a few big gaps in his game that need filling.

I would be happy with naden or Oates, naden could fill in at centre if needed and Oates is a big body who would be good on the end of our backline
Hartigan and Madge have done a great job with recruitment however Kepoa was one they got wrong it happens

Oates past his prime for mine

Kiah cooper looked pretty handy on the weekend, not sure what his natural position is though

gebbie would be great but needs a couple of reggies games in him

mbye to centre and talau to wing probably easiest shift for now while we wait for some of the dev players

also edenn rogers smith could work out as a centre, if talau went to wing

Had a couple of bad patches yesterday in attack but quite solid in defence.

He certainly needs to improve in 2021, I haven't given up on him yet

I didn’t realise Oates was still only 26

He has the runs on the board, yea down on confidence maybe but a change of scenery could do him good just like Joe Offa

Taller than a giraffe too

we def could use some more height in the backline, id be more keen on naden tho

discrepancies aside, hes got a lot of potential

Until we buy someone, I'd have:

Mbye centre and push Talau to the wing. Bringing Simpkin onto the Bench.

Mbye is great defensively especially with communication.

I know it may get confusing when we are talking about flippers, but last time i checked your knee is nowhere near your hands.

His carries back are the best part of his game, but he is fundamentally missing every other part of a wingers games.

I mean he's completely stuffed up two breaks in two weeks. Literally any option other then kicking it dead was better. We could of been 12-0 up and really changed the momentum in that game.

Not writing the kid off but he needs to learn in reggies, and based on how his body has changed i dont think he is long for the wing. He's too big.

In regards to a winger been poor defensively, unless he is missing tackles they just react to what the inside does for the most part and jam when the overlap is on.

he has the same problems now as he had last year, seems totally unaware when a break is on and totally screws the pass up. Benji had to give him a spray in his first game with us as he missed 3 passes from benji!

You maybe right, it could also be one game last year with a rookie winger that isn't up to scratch. Overall last season he was a good defensive centre.

Whilst AJ has a few errors in his game I'm sure there is a definite upside to his game the tackle on the Knights winger late in the game that caused a turn over was outstanding

@THE_POM did mention he was injured. I wouldn't be binning him yet, just prefer younger players to play injury free in short bursts.
