I'm thinking well upgrade Groat so a bit of Ellis's money will go there. I'm thinking we sign a Prop with maybe 100 or so games experience, not a superstar, just someone who will join Groat Sauce and Woods in the go forward Dept.

I think the one thing that makes me feel better about this is that we can actually attract top line players now.

For how many years did we have to pay overs for crap players

Groat will surely be upgraded. The Tigers have some exciting backrow talents coming through the NYC this year, but they're nowhere near the class of Ellis yet, although I can see the club trying to secure the likes of Andrew Vela, Kyle Lovett and Brendan Santi, they'll all be first graders in a couple of years IMO.

Not one of those players is even close to Ellis

Maybe not as good but some of them are very good players. I certainly wouldn't say no to Simon Mannering…

Simon Mannering just re-signed as have the majority of names that have already been thrown up. Someone earlier mentioned Jeremy Smith. Good player yes, but next year will be 33 yrs old so no thanks. I'd be surprised if the Cowboys didn't have him wrapped up but i'd love Jason Taumalolo. Only 18 and a future superstar

I mentioned him in another thread - can't find out whether the cows have re signed him past 2012 or not - his credentials are first rate and he has huge wraps on him :

Taumalolo has resigned, and I reckon he will be something special by the time his copntract is up in 2015!

I rekon if Curtis Sironen continues to grow he might be a chance to go into lock and shift Heighnington to the second row.

Iam hope our own BMM steps up a few notches this year. Okay he will not be a Ellis next year but he might in a few years

Can't believe no one mentioned Sika Manu for a while… he is unreal.

Merrin, Packer, Poore, Taylor, Cherrington, Mannering, Shackleton, Taia, Waerea-Hargreaves... all good options if available.

I think Aiden Guerra from the Roosters would be a great signing. Taking into account we will need to upgrade Groat, hopefully get Simon Dwyer back, upgrade Moltzen, and look for a high quality winger to replace Tuqiri and perhaps a prop like Poore or even a season out of Moi Moi

Hold off for a season or two and chase Jeremy Smith or develop the junior talent we have and make a huge play at Cooper Cronk
