Has anyone considered it could be Blair leaving Melbourne?

NZ rep, Melbourne under cap restrictions to keep Slater, Cronk and Smith on the books on top dollar.

sadly it also sounds like it could be ellis to me. just went back to england, might of realised how much he misses home, hes a representative player, and the "freeing up of cap space to retain players" could mean we can retain gibbs, fulton and payten even if we do sign blair

doesn't matter how much money is freed up at the end of the yr the more time goes the more i think its obvious that Payten isn't in the tigers on-field plans…with a guarenteed position on the coaching staff after his playing dayz are finished i think its time they put the old boy out to pasture coz he's realy looked past it this yr...and i've alwayz been one of his biggest fans

Ellis wouldn't make sense. The article said the player was looking to give up the game, not go to England. Plus the media hardly considers playing for england being representative.

i think its probably ellis the article refers to. and i think thats why the tigers have chased blair so damn hard actually. they know they need a replacement for the big pom.

Ellis, if he leaves us, has already said he'll continue in the ESL.

I.e CONTINUE playing footy.

If it's anyone from us…...............it will be Lote.

He's already extremely rich + is on huge $$$ + could pick up big $$$ playing Union in Japan etc. All of that fits into "quitting the game". He's also a leading rep player having played for QLD / Kanagaroos / Wallabies / Kangaroos again.

He's also a great 'team guy'. He may well feel bad picking up $400 000 for one last season whilst Liam and Bryce gets shoved out the door.

My money would be on one of the Titans.

They have been very active in the player markey already and would have a few guys who would be older and on very good coin. Perhaps someone like Bull Bailey-Scotty Prince or Preston. If I were to have to guess I think preston would be the most likely candidate
