Challenging the good teams doesn't count, **only beating them**.

I haven't watched the game after reading about it so I'm not being critical or negative about yesterday. I hope as the year goes on combinations start to form that can actually help us win tight moments.

Few good moments a game, seeing potential etc doesn't win you games.

There is this sort of belief that "we will play better next game". It's so useless. The players and staff are not nearly as frustrated as we fans have been for 10 years.

They don't seem to understand that making errors, missing tackles, conceding offloads isn't OK. They're in a comp with the best of the best.

Watch first half...for summary, watch second for dodgy ref decisions rorting and flood gates opening

Also worth looking at brooks conversion of our 2nd try...real nice

I'm convinced that there's quite a few "supporters" that actually love to put the boot in and aren't happy unless they're able to. It must be exhausting.

Dude, ITS round 1 !!!! Your gonna give yourself a heart attack if you are already this worked up being beaten comprehensively in 40 minutes so far this year. Focus on the good things like , we defended well off our line , we had a few good moments , brooks looks like he might have solved the goal kicking problem . We lost that game , I don’t feel like the other team beat us , and we didn’t bring it on ourselves . All fixable things . The attack should look better with the actual spine playing on Sunday . I really don’t see the use in heading down the negative Nancy path . There’s a hell of a lot to improve on , but definitely some signs of life and we might be able to fire some shots this year .

That would be a true statement after a win ...but seeing wins are like hens teeth of course there is negativity that seems never ending just like the never ending loss cycle.

Idk why they even bother continuing to watch. If something was adding that much negativity to my life I would remove it. I bet they wouldn't even be happy when we are successful. The types of people to nit-pick performances.

If you have a close look at that 2nd conversion you’ll find it was a mis kick. Only went over cause Luke is full of it .

We showed yesterday that we can compete with good teams. We just need to do it for 80 minutes rather than 50-60.

We were going well until Garner gave up a dumb penalty then concede a try and the kickoff goes out on the full. That’s where we fall over, ill discipline and compounding errors. If we fix that we won’t be anywhere near the spoon.

good analysis, but it seems exactly as it could be a comment on a game form last year

Yep, some forget, we are just fans of the team, you don’t come here to force change or change game plans, that’s the coaching staffs job.

Enjoy the good times, we don’t tend to have many.

Bump.

I think Broncos/Dragons/Manly have too many star players to avoid it.

I think one of Bulldogs/Cowboys/Us will win it.

I predicted we would finish 6th this year and after yesterday i havent changed my mind.We were the better team in the first half but as is always the case with Sutton he referees a team to win it,Raiders stood offside all game but not penalised for it.We started the 2nd half very poorly and could not recover.Twice Suttons terrible decisions were overruled by the bunker,it was only after the game was over that he decided to make to pretend he was objective and give us any momentum.
We wont win it this year but we certainly wont get a spoon even though we will probably lose again this week. Our initial draw is very tough

These are really worrying accusations you are making about Sutton. You may well be correct though, and that's what is most concerning with the arbitrary and unaccountable power to refs to rule a "set restart". Thanks very much PVL.

Not accusations just observations on his refereeing it is quite possible that it is completely subconscious. He like most of the other refs seem to make decisions which favour the more fancied teams, this is why i prefer Cecchin to all of the others as he seems to be completely impartial in how he referees

Yes it’s amazing how many times we draw Sutton out of the hat to ref ref our games and first up this season no less! Cecchin is head and shoulders the best ref in the NRL, yet I don’t recall the last time he reffed one of our matches. I’m pretty certain we didn’t have him at all last season.

Matt Cecchin was easily the best ref and they tried to force him to retire. Then when he came back he got relegated to the touchlines a lot. He still hasn't got a marquee game yet either. The Sutton brothers and Ashley Klein always get given Origin, Kangaroos tests, grand finals, etc.

Wins are not that rare. We regularly finish around middle of the pack. That doesn't happen because we rarely win. We go alright, but can go better - and will. The boys certainly don't deserve the rubbish aimed at them after a disappointing 40 minutes of 2021. I mean really. Theres a lot of Brooks bashing going on but hardly a mention of the fact he's been kicking goals from everywhere.

I haven't watched the game after reading about it so I'm not being critical or negative about yesterday. I hope as the year goes on combinations start to form that can actually help us win tight moments.

I have already stated previously that I think we'll go well when we get our combinations to gel and this week will be a good start with Doueihi back in at 5/8.

At various times in the past we have been able to challenge the top teams for fairly long periods of time and not be able to take the win.

There have been various reasons for this, lack of concentration, lack of experience, lack of discipline, straying away from the game plan, injury and bad refereeing decisions being just some of the reasons.

I think that some of those tough wins against the good teams will come as the season goes on and our spine and final 17 become a bit more settled and we start to form good combinations.

What I am really hoping for is that we have a good season injury wise and that we finally win those games against the lower teams that we are supposed to win and just for a change, when we establish a good lead we go on with it and put a score on some of those teams, maybe even show that we can keep a couple of teams scoreless.

so will other teams. We are definitely looking better than last year but so are other teams. The quality of the competition improves every year but in 10 years we haven't improved remotely as fast as other teams have.

I agree. I think we have a lot of improvement in us but the only doing it for 50 or 60 minutes has been a problem for years and it's a worry if it is still there.
