Woods hammered by Tunks on Talkin Sport

Well there we have it - thought Woods and Taupau about the the only two safe atm from having a a less than positive thread. Look out Marty better have a blinder this week.

ive got no problem with hair, but its obviously taking his mind off the job when as a professional it shouldnt.

it reminds me a lot of austin last season before his chop: constantly getting it out of his eyes at dummy half that wasted time.

as tigermama said, just get it braided for games like a lot of ufc fighters do. problem solved. i did notice the guy pulling his hair in that tackle! ha ha… i thought only girls pulled hair!

but i cant see why he would cop criticism. i actually like to see him smiling on the field - note: not having a laugh after a loss like sunday though. also, pretty much every time he hits it up he gains another 5-7m every time he is tackled.

i really feel any negative comments aimed at him apart from appearing flippant after the loss are unwarranted and a bit cynical.

I cant believe that because Woods has one game that does not reach his normal top class standard he cops flak.I think Geo is right we should get rid of him to manly.

Sounds like a Gee-Up by Tunks… Good on him for attempting to get Aaron in a better state of mind.

Probably instigated by Daley. Well Done!

I'd like to see Woodsy fire up like he did last year against Souths and Manly. Sue gets a double palm to the face and Woodsy stood there smiling.
Hopefully Daley will do us a favour and snub him for Origin.

I'd like to see Woodsy get a wake up call too, great player but not playing with any mongrel.
Scares no one

Tunks and Hughes, while they've been better this year, are dinosaurs and envious of todays players and it's quite evident.

Pappy is probably the most level-headed one and Robbo is an absolute spanner.

I treat the show as entertainment value. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just because you don't like the show doesn't change the fact that Tunks was right
I love woodsy , but he's not the same player he was at the beginning of last year

The bloke is a prop and makes 200 m and 30 tackles per game. Enough said.

Not arguing that he's not good , but stats are not everything. When was the last time you saw him stop someone like someone like Hargraves in his tracks ??

^^^^^^ GC tiger summed things up in the previous posts. I thought Aaron had become a top shelf front rower at the beginning of last season, may have been wrong.

Not sure which way your post was aimed, first you agree with the critism then you critise the posters who agree with you.
No one is blaming Woods hair for any loss or wanting him to have to serve time in purgotory ( spelling probably wrong) but most young players need a wake up call from time to time
And I bet Daley woul have been glad to see Tunks give it around this time.
I don't think anything that's been said here is unwarranted or cynical, and I doubt that Woodsie would Be emotionally harmed by it

Though many on here consider him a "plodder", for mine Keefy is still our most effective middle man when injury free.

A quick play the ball is generally much more productive than gaining an extra couple of metres whilst getting danced around and allowing the opposition forming a defensive line. When was the last time a good dummy half run came off the back of Woods?

I have always liked Woodsy,he is developing well into a topline front rower…

In my honest opinion he probably gets disheartened during some of the games because all the metres and hard yards he makes, comes to no fruition because of our poor last play options...hard work for no result...just more hard work...

Having said that, when the halves finally get things right,he will be even better,I can give him a couple of bad games...he has played a lot of awesome ones....

He is showing signs of frustration,as are others, this is why we need the playmakers to take hold of the game and give him and others direction....I completely understand everything about our youth, however when they eventually learn to control the game,we WILL be a stronger more aggressive team......I just hope this comes sooner rather than later,I would hate to lose good players out of frustration, having to wait for them to get things right and having to work harder for nothing...we as fans can become very frustrated and trust me players do as well.....

As some others have said im not a huge fan of the way he acts but there is nothing wrong with his style of play.

Tunks does raise an important point though. We are missing an enforcer, someone tough who scares people who can get the forwards back in the game with a big play.

i'd say taupau does that for us.

we do need a leader in the forwards though. someone who can control the line speed, not miss simple one on one tackles and take the dirty hit up when everyone else is tired. woods is a fair bit of being that type of a leader.

however, as you said, i dont think there is anything wrong with his style of play. he's still 23? or so - a little bit immature when it comes to his attitude but he's not just a stats man. he makes heaps of metres each run, he also isn't scared to put his hand up when we need to do the hard yards. he needs to work on his defense and he will imo.

Who said I didn't like the show? If I didn't like the show I wouldn't listen to it.

Even good players have off days. If a bad day for Woods is 211m and 33 tackles from 65 minutes while missing a handful of tackles I'll take that every day of the week. Yeah, probably pisses about with his hair too much, but commenting on his performance… Tunks is off his head.

Well this escalated quickly….

On the back of Tunks....

Woods>>>>>>Manly...

Stop opp props in their tracks? Constantly. We are talking about Woods right?

He's had maybe 3 or 4 bad missed tackles that I can think of in his career, one being Boyd on Sunday.

He doesn't lean in with the shoulder and put on punishing hits. It's not his style, he wraps the ball and drives to ground. Farah does the same, only Marty Taupau really leans into tackles, and got himself knocked out a few times for the trouble.

In fact I'd argue props aren't really around to be defensive enforcers, their job is to hold the ruck tight and stop big bodies at the line. If they spent all day putting on hits, they'd chop down their on-field stamina by 10 minutes.

Seriously his weekly stats are something like 35 tackles made, 0-1 missed.

I do agree with you about Robbo though , a definite waste of space with his whining drivel.
But try living in Qld and you will really find out what bad sports shows are like.
I can't remember there ever being one.

Put ol' Georgie Porgie on his back too.

Tunks is a washed up crap footy player who speaks dribble to try to gain ratings which obviously isnt working

Woods has been our best player this year, he carries that forward pack and imagine if he wasnt there for 5 or 6 weeks, we would be getting smashed non stop
