Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

I don't think Cleary would want a change of mind given how Matulino has been playing. Mats is coming good really tough forward >Woods at half the cost.

Anyone who thinks a winning culture is not developed, and sustained, without a giant cheque book is kidding themselves.

Like Cronulla?

Yes you need to have the green. But I doubt the sharks outspent many other clubs.

They did purchase wisely. I think Easts and Cronulla are proving that older players can still be worthwhile and good value.

I think you will find that Cronulla is in a very good financial position due to some savy business deals which include owning their own ground. Their future is looking very bright which puts them in a position to remain competitive in the player market and maintain a strong roster.

I still like Woods and feel we will be the worse off without him. People change employers all the time.

Im on the record voicing my angst about the upcoming couple of years ahead. Man I hope I am horribly wrong

I would think the situation at the dogs is not going to be stable. I think we will be stable in 2018 after all the issues for the last decade. I for one am looking forward to having players wanting to play for the club not rubbish it. Woods lost me when he carried on about how he was treated to justify his change. He can make the decision to change clubs as many players do as it is a business now, however a player such as Ava signed with the Sharks and did not carry on with the same rubbish as our club captain. 2040 tattoo will look good at Belmore.

Its great watching the curtain close on some shows especially when theres hardly a handful of appreciative audience members.

Can't wait for the season to end.

Everyone spends the same cap. It's only third party agreements, particularly in one team towns (brissy, Melb) or dodgy brown bags (easts) that will give a team a financial Advantage. With the exception of strong management and facilities that money can buy.

With news this morning that Dessie is almost certainly gone at the Dogs, how will Foran and Woods react?

It is what it is

Money may buy success, culture sustains it.

I think the best response to this article is that the board got it spot on in getting Ivan in exactly when they did. If Ivan had been here earlier we might have been stuck with this lump.

I see it as more of an omission he wasn't happy with Taylor…IMO I think Woods and Teddy were in a little click with Robbie Farah, remember Robbie? he talked Teddy into withdrawing his deal with the Raiders to stay loyal with the club..I think when Talyor snubbed Robbie out of playing his 300th game, Woods and Teddy deep down were extremely disappointed about everything and I don't blame them for that Clubs do turn on players when they have past their used by date.. I think Woods is sensing a better Culture under Cleary, good on him for at least stating it..that may help others sign?

I agree with your comments but for what it's worth Woods clearly articulated on NRL 360 that he had no issues with Taylor, that he got on well with him. We will never know why Woods decided to leave but as I stated before and as Phil Gould wrote so well, I think he reacted and made a decision he will regret in time, if not now.

That makes zero sense. If he was so unhappy with Taylor, why did he sign with the Dogs AFTER Taylor left?

1\. Five pages of good riddance (and counting) mean no-one wants you here anymore mate.
2\. You're a liar. And a poor one at that. You've lost fan respect.
3\. On that point - way to ingratiate yourself to your new Bulldogs team and fans. They must love you already.
4\. Your legacy as a solid player will be largely overlooked by Tigers fans because the conversation will always turn to you causing public disgrace to the Tigers, being a narcissist, poor leader, lousy influence and overall pathetic excuse for a captain.

The future of the Tigers is already brighter. You will not be missed. Wish you were already gone.
