Woods

didnt bend the line and imo didnt run hard enough. blame pearce maloney whoever you want, but imo he was the worst out there no matter which way you look at it. daley was compleetely right in not bringing him back.

might've played his last origin ever imo. needs to put the shoulder in the tackles and run hard. forget the footwork at the line- it will come with experience.

as for farah, geeze he needs to stop coming in when the person is already tackled.

At the game I thought he was terrible.. But rewatched and think his defence was probably one of our best at the start.. Pushing up, making most connections.. Bar the thurstons bullsh*t.

He should've been let back on, he plays long minutes and gets good metres when everyone tires for the tigz.. Ohwell

 Come of it. He isnt in his 30's. He will be sent back to the drawing board for a year or so but will return and become a mainstay. He has plenty of time on his hands. Maybe he is exhausted from carrying our club side for 1 & 1/2 years? Rule him out at your own peril. 2 years ago Fifita was playing tremendously worse football. Woodsy is still a pup…especially for a front rower.

yeh agree he needs to go back to the drawing board- but tbh he reminded me a lot of someone like weyman or white or LRL- totally ineffective at origin level.

he may have taken a shortcut to get to where he is atm- but needs to re-invent himself.

Unfortunately for woodsy things didn't go his way. He will be on the outer for a while is think. Prob not so bad with no two home games till 2016

Sorry to burst your bubble but I think that 2016 is the series we have 1 Qld ,NSw and Melbourne game

Queenslands line speed killed Woods tonight.
He was getting smashed by 2-4 blokes every hit up only making 5-8m. Woods' strength isn't hitting the line at pace, he jogs up and hits a defender and spins and works his leg drive backwards looking for offloads. The problem in origin is the speed it's played at and how quick the defending team is on you. If he is to be effective in origin he needs to hit the line hard and fast, then look to offload or gain a quick play the ball to get NSW out of our end. Fifita and Scott aced it tonight. So much so, Tamou may be coming off the bench for Australia I believe.

I think he needs to change his game if he wants to play Origin. Getting the ball flat footed and trying to beat the defense from a standing start is a recipe for disaster. He needs to hit the line with speed.

I hope this gives him some things to think about, we all love woods, but can see some areas of improvement after that game.

Needs to have more leg speed and hit the line harder, rather then a jog up, and beat them
With footwork.

It would be good to have both sets of skills, and you can use accordingly,

A big off season hopefully!

Definitely a learning curve for Aaron. It will aid him in his education to becoming the premier prop in the comp. Talent alone will only take you so far in that position. Gaining experience, learning lessons and adaptation take you to the top. He has learnt a lesson early on in his career and will change his game to suit. It can only benefit him and us.

I've always wanted to see Woods take the ball from more than a standing start - surely it will help him in attack. At the moment this is what lets him down at Origin level.

Re the Thurston try, Woods was holding his place in the line and I believe it was almost entirely Tamou's fault, he did not move up with the line and gave Thurston a hole to run at. Farah was just trying to cover tackle and got checked which put him off.

He copped it when carting the ball up, the opposition were up and in his face in numbers and as such his impact was not what I have been used to seeing. Having said that I didn't think Tamou was that much better. As others have written this series will be a good experience for Woods as it will make him reassess his game and improve from there. He will be a better player and force his way back into contention for origin. In the short term, I am looking forward to see how he backs up against the warriors.
