I remember we paid a hundred bucks or so to have a chip installed in our PS1 so it would play regular CDs. Dad then installed 2 cd writers into the PC so we could borrow games from the video store and copy them. We went from having 2 games to almost 20 in the space of a few months

I think it was 1997 and my mate at school told us his brother ordered 20+ cds from the sony website because there was a glitch with their credit card payment system where you could enter the card details as 0000 0000 0000 0000.. so i tried it and ended up with 5 cds (silverchair, frenzal rhomb, Garbage.. cant remember the rest)... was too scared to try any more than that in fear I might get hit with a bill (more scared of my parents)

I thought the regular PS1 could play CDs?

oh ok, I actually found a working PS1 console in a skip bin and it could play CDs it must have been chipped.

Did you ever go on MIRC to download games?

Not to download games, but i did spend plenty of time on there

My first computer was a cassette loading Dick Smith Systems 80 which was a clone of the TRS 80,it seems like a lifetime ago and i remember when he poured cordial into the keyboard at about the age of 1 when i was at work.My self control was severley tested that day.
