Would Tedesco Ever Come Back

I just posed this question in the signings thread, but thought it deserved it’s own discussion. What would it take to get Tedesco back here in 2022? Is it possible? It sounds crazy on the surface to entertain such a theory, but premiership after premiership, surely that blunts the hunger and makes you want to set new challenges. By 2022, surely it won’t be about money. He’ll earn a truckload wherever he is. Could he do a LeBron and come back to and try to win one here?

What are people’s thoughts?

You're obviously a decent guy @GNR4LIFE to be posing this question.
Something tells me Tedesco is also a decent guy.
His heritage and upbringing seems to suggest he is a decent guy, and it doesn't matter how decent we are, we are all capable of making mistakes with our life choices.
Google tells me he was born on 8 Jan 1993 in Ryde, so he has 'Tiger blood running through his heart'.
But I guess a lot depends on how Douhei goes at fullback. If he is as good as we hope he will be.... and we are able to hang on to him, there may not be a spot for Tedesco to fit into....unless we move Douhei to 5/8 like a lot on here seem to like.

If you put yourself in his boots for just a second for a moment , why would he .....

He has seen on multiple occasions what our fans are like when he makes what he thinks is the best decision for his career

What utter nonsense. That's every fanbase - nobody is pleased when their best player leaves, esp to a club like Roosters. And if he was to come back, much would be forgiven, like for Benji. The fans would ease up and maybe the Roosters fans would be upset.

But to applaud the guy for making decisions in his own best-interest? No way. People in all walks of life make their own self-interested decision and you don't have to like or respect that just because they were looking out for themselves. It's definitely more respectable to make the decisions that are in the best interests of others. Israel Folau constantly makes decisions for himself only and he hasn't a shred of my respect.

Now if it's the club's fault he leaves - they couldn't afford him or did some trade deal or salary cap issue, then fans will temper their dislike of the player. Or if he's had a long long career and it's the tail-end of his ability, there is reduction in drama. E.g. Tim Brasher, I think many Balmain fans were bitter when he didn't sign on, but could appreciate all he had done for the club and was in the twilight of his career.

Tedesco didn't do this. Tedesco had two injury-plagued seasons in his first 3-year deal (total 28 matches played), then signed on for another club before reneging. That action alone causes some damage to the relationship with the fans, both Tigers and then Raiders. How pleased Raiders fans must have been (I imagine they invoked "karma") when he did his knee in the following match-up.

Tedesco does 1 more deal for Tigers, very definitely plays to the best of his ability, and then signs on with the most glamorous club going about, with as bad a reputation for under-handed payments as any. Easts are basically the opposite of everything I believe Wests Tigers stand for. When Tigers needed Tedesco the most, he left. All that upheaval going on, not entirely his fault, and he chooses to leave. We could have copped Woods and/or Slimy Fart, but Tedesco killed fans.

Every time his contract is up, Tedesco looks after Tedesco. Well guess what, I don't support James Tedesco, I support Wests Tigers.

You said you reckon EPL fans show respect to ex players, well that may sometimes be true about some middle-tier honest player who is moved on, but everyone gets bitter when a star player leaves esp. to upgrade to a glamour club. You reckon Everton fans were cool when Wayne Rooney went to Man U? Of course when he came back they probably mended quite a few bridges, but it still cuts.

So myself, I really don't care what a player does in his own best interests; that's not my problem. And if he never played for Tigers and turns down a competitive offer, so be it, no issue. But if he's a Tigers junior and clearly the Tigers' best player, and he turns down our offer to take up an equivalent offer with another club - no, to hell with him. Until he comes back.

I’m sure he’d give as much consideration about what the fans think as I give to the ants running around on the footpath on my morning walk.

He cut off social media after the Canberra situation ......it had an effect

Don't shoot the messenger

Maybe it's our mentality ...when an opposing EPL side comes with a ex player who put in and performed well for a club ...he is given a round of applause and shown respect

Tedesco gets the reception he gets because of the way he left. Strung the club along for months with imo no intention of ever staying here. Couldn't even be bothered when voldermort put the deadline down to inform the club he would not be taking up the offer. The club did a lot for Tedesco through those early years, yet as ive said before he barely acknowledges where he came from (except for Camden).
There's not one person on here who wouldn't acknowledge what a fantastic player he is, it's his morals that were questionable. At least he saw some light eventually and got rid of Moses as his manager, although i suspect Uncle Nick may have even played a part in that too.
As for him ever coming back, no i don't believe that would ever cross his mind unless the other 15 clubs all went broke. He is a Rooster for "lyfe".

Best post on on Tedesco I have seen you have summed it up perfectly

Maybe? After we have the centre of excellence fully operational, are a consistent top 4 performer, and Chooks find a better #1. Given all that, WT odds in snaring Teddy will be 1/15.

The only way he'll be back is if he has three ACLs back to back, Easts shaft him and we'll sweep in with a 5 year 5 million dollar deal to sign a broken back that is three yards slower approaching 30.

He will never come back - he just looks after himself.

I am sure if he could erase his time with us - as if it never happened...he would do it.

To me - He is a mongrel Rorter player like all the rest of them.

15/1 you mean?

150/1 more like it

time to close thread

He can stay at Easts. Could have kept Pappy if he hadn't strung us along and implied his teammates weren't good enough on the way out.

Were you in a coma when Van Persie went to Man U?

This whole discussion is embarrassing. "Do you think if I got a better job and some smart clothes she'd take me back?" says Margot Robbie's high school boyfriend. Yeah nah mate, she's, er, moved on.

Knock a few teeth out and kneecap him and he'd fit right in

I was going to post that he'd never come back since his teeth got fixed.

I suppose unless Tigers can become the next Margot Robbie? How does we look in a dress and heels, kissing Dicaprio?
