Here is an interesting question now that things are a little more clear - do you risk scuttling this season to get a head-start on 2018?
I don't mean dropping guys like Woods or Tedesco, though I'd love a club to just drop a player who signs elsewhere, the reality is they are too important to the current line-up and you don't cut of your nose to spite your face.
But what about guys like Ava, middle-range guys? Would you be cool if Ava or Tim Grant announce they are leaving, just dump them straight away and promote guys like Felise or Tatola?
Obviously you cannot do it en masse, but these boys won't get the experience they need unless they get a go. I can't see us easily replacing Woods and Ava in just one recruitment period, I felt we were already an experienced prop short anyway; the young guys are going to have to come on next year.
And this talk of releasing Moses if we get Tui Lolohea - surely if we are talking 5/8th its a step-down? Lolohea has a long way to go to be a dominant half IMO, especially mostly playing ISP recently. It would be another big risk; probably less of a risk if we got TMM.
