Would you take Todd Carney at the Tigers?

Match payment contract with the club reserving the right to terminate his contract at any time.

But I feel that if the Wests Tigers were to sack Lui and then take Carney on, it would be abit too hypocritical for my liking.

Your comparing chalk and cheese - if we sacked Lui and took on someone else with alleged DV issues then yes that is hypocritical - Carney has created havoc with his drinking problem in the past but his most recent sacking had nothing to do with causing problems while on the drink - it was about ignoring a policy that senior players put in to place and they had their noses out of joint when 3 players disobeyed. I agree with those on here who say give him ago and put some very strict guidelines and consequences in place - anyway this is probably all hypothetical.

I was only talking hypothetically. I've voiced my opinions about Carney and I disagree with WT signing him.

I was only giving my idea as to what kind of contract he should be on and that sacking a player with a bad image and replacing him with one of the worst serial offenders out isn't the best idea in my opinion.

When you look at it Carney hasn't really done anything that bad at the roosters. The DUI was the worst of it. That was the only time he broke the law. He likes a beer, find me a 23-24 year old that doesnt. He only broke a club drinking ban and he wasnt the only to do it. The media makes him out to be a lot worse than he is. I'd love to see us give him a chance. He can kick goals and i think he gives more than what Lui does.

the difference between todd and other 22-23 yo that love a beer, is that most of them dont have jobs that see him earning 6 or 7 times the national average relying him being in peak physical condition.
His DUI was his 3rd, which can see a bloke in jail (albeit if he is unlucky)

and ONLY breaking a club drinking ban, show complete disregard to your team mates. The success of a football club is built on working hard together, sacraficing together and succeeding together. Todd has never got this.

He has been given so many chances due to his talent, he has wasted them, and let many people, I know of a couple people that stuck their neck out for Todd , saying he was worth another chance, he let them down.

Signing Carney sends the players the message that rules dont matter, it doesnt send the message that the team does not come first, players read news papers too, and they know what signing Todd means, it means, if your talented enough, nothing else matters. I dont want that feeling at my club.

_........After the latest charge the club met with sponsors in an attempt to alleviate concern. Humphreys has warned against prejudging Lui.\

The Tigers have also dismissed any interest in Daniel Mortimer, the Parramatta halfback who was told by the Eels he was not required for 2012 despite being on contract for the next two years.\
\
Mortimer would be a potential replacement for Lui if he was sacked but Humphreys said there would be no approach about the 22-year-old. He also emphatically ruled out any interest in the discarded Sydney Roosters playmaker Todd Carney._

Yeah I always though Carney wasn't a fit with us - good move.

It can read that way helmesy either that or humphreys is being careful what he says publically. The more interesting question is if all three are out then who is the club looking at, I know that this is the subject of another thread but it is a very important question given the role of a half in the game. At this point Lui seems safe (he could be warned 3 strikes and you're out) maybe we will hear something this week with the matter being mentioned at Court but I'd be surprised.

According to RLW - Lui has signed with the Cowboys (Mole rumour)

So i guess in Humphrey's speak that means either Mortimer or Carney will be wearing the Tigers N0\. 7 next year.

Don`t worry about those other countries, we are not in them, we live in Australia.
Todd Carney would sign with the Wests Tigers for approx $250,00-$300,00 per season, when his true value is approx $500,00 per season.

Vicious I don't think he is anywhere near the figures you are quoting on last years form

I couldn't possibly support either Lui or Carney.

Particuarly Lui, whether or not the courts find him guilty, I will not support him. There is more to loving your footy club than wining games.

Fair call Goose. You're right no one player should be above the rules at any club regardless of talent. As far as I know though we don't have any alcohol bans through the season do we? I think given another opportunity he might wake up to himself and under coach Sheens who knows. But maybe its not worth the risk for reward.
