Would you take Todd Carney at the Tigers?

When you look at it Carney hasn't really done anything that bad at the roosters. The DUI was the worst of it. That was the only time he broke the law. He likes a beer, find me a 23-24 year old that doesnt. He only broke a club drinking ban and he wasnt the only to do it. The media makes him out to be a lot worse than he is. I'd love to see us give him a chance. He can kick goals and i think he gives more than what Lui does.

the difference between todd and other 22-23 yo that love a beer, is that most of them dont have jobs that see him earning 6 or 7 times the national average relying him being in peak physical condition.
His DUI was his 3rd, which can see a bloke in jail (albeit if he is unlucky)

and ONLY breaking a club drinking ban, show complete disregard to your team mates. The success of a football club is built on working hard together, sacraficing together and succeeding together. Todd has never got this.

He has been given so many chances due to his talent, he has wasted them, and let many people, I know of a couple people that stuck their neck out for Todd , saying he was worth another chance, he let them down.

Signing Carney sends the players the message that rules dont matter, it doesnt send the message that the team does not come first, players read news papers too, and they know what signing Todd means, it means, if your talented enough, nothing else matters. I dont want that feeling at my club.

Fair call Goose. You're right no one player should be above the rules at any club regardless of talent. As far as I know though we don't have any alcohol bans through the season do we? I think given another opportunity he might wake up to himself and under coach Sheens who knows. But maybe its not worth the risk for reward.

Fraze we do for injured players as you may remember with Gibbs ,Fulton and Beau

most clubs at sometime place bans on themselves, they only usually get publicised if someone breaks them.

I couldn't possibly support either Lui or Carney.

Particuarly Lui, whether or not the courts find him guilty, I will not support him. There is more to loving your footy club than wining games.

Why not goose.
Humphreys is supporting him.
Maybe she slipped over .
Get rid of Lui ,the club dosent need him .

Mortimer would be a potential replacement for Lui if he was sacked but Humphreys said there would be no approach about the 22-year-old. **He also emphatically ruled out any interest in the discarded Sydney Roosters playmaker Todd Carney.**

I know its hard now to take him seriously.

Just wait, be patient, if it happens it happens, if it dont it dont….why do you need to know now?

Well if he does come hope he plays fullback. He's a 5/8 first, fullback 2nd and halfback 3rd.

1.Carney

6.Marshall
7.Miller

Seriously, why would Humphreys publicly state the Tigers wanted Carney - if in fact they did?
To do so would only increase Carney's bargaining power.
Better to be shrewd in such matters.
Carney on minimum salary plus match payments? Cool…....

Carney has no bargaining power - he's damaged goods.

If more than one club will have him, he's got bargaining power. Club A: "You're damaged goods - you'll have to play for nothing." Club B: "We'll offer you ten bucks a week plus a bus pass." Carney: "Is it the 415 to training?"
