Would you take Todd Carney at the Tigers?

so much potential going to waste.
has the potential to be a champion player.
but as we know potential is only that, you have to produce the effort/performances
he is only one who can help himself.

needs a stint or army or similar, to be under control of in-flexible, non tolerant disciplinary hard ass instructor.

No, why the hell would we pay 300k for a 5/8 when we already have a better one? A 5/8 that carries a lot of baggage too. We'd be better off buying a fullback.

Also, the guy is nothing but trouble, those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

Is it me or is it ironic that the Roosters sponsor on there shorts is Tooheys New!

It really is a shame but it is a serious problem that he has. Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Still is such a great talent.

If we were desperate for quality players yes . We are not desperate so
No .

But i do think that Brian smith is doing the right thing by letting him go . Next year he Anasta and Pearce in in the halves means no damage done.

If the club could afford him I would say YES YES YES!Given the Tigers have a strong disciplinarian in Tim Sheens and with Farah/Marshall/Ellis/Heighnington etc as mentor/minders I think the Tigers culture would be good for him.

Away from the Eastern Suburbs would suit and boy if he is fit and his head is in the right place he has proven he is one hell of a footballer. Play him at 1/2 back or Fullback and it would be a back-line that would read:

Fullback:Carney/Grant/Reddy
Wing: Tuquiri
Centre: Lawrence
Centre: Ayshford/Reddy
Wing: Ryan/Reddy/Grant
5/8: Marshall/Carney/Lui
1/2 Back: Lui/Carney/Marshall

Regardless of shuffling the deckchairs above he would be a sensational signing and the Tigers could sign him for 1 year with a 2 year option (but on a year by year basis) though I doubt whether he or his manager would buy that sort of deal? Money would obviously be a problem for the Tigers unless they released Robert Lui.

There is quite a bit of personal history between smith and carney it's not only drinking or performance in the NRL

Every time a players gets a bad headlines the sponsors take a hit and they are the ones that keep the clubs going. We cant afford to risk all the hard work that has been done over the past few years because rightly or wrongly Carney is a walking headline and mostly negative. Really if he was to play in the NRL next year with another team, the Raiders should get first crack but its highly unlikely he will get registered and will be forced off shore

TODD Carney has been granted a stay of execution by the Sydney Roosters, with the club putting off a decision on the NRL bad boy until the end of the season.

The star Rooster had been expected to be sacked by the club in the coming days due to a string of off-field indiscretions, culminating in him breaking a team booze ban earlier this month along with fellow players Nate Myles and Frank Paul Nuuausala.

However, the Roosters recently released a statement stating the following:

"Following a request from Todd Carney and his manager for an extension before meeting the Sydney Roosters board, the Roosters have today agreed to wait until the completion of their season to conclude the matter.

"Until that time, there will be no further comment.

"In the meantime, Todd Carney will continue to be excused from training and playing as well any other club activities under the terms of his contract."

can't remember if it was here or fox sports, so sorry if i am repeating myself here…

i posted after it happened that i think the roosters will delay an announcement until a few weeks after the season, let things cool down and then decide not to sack him. in the cold light of day, all he did on this occasion was break a team pact and i think that as the microscope goes off him the roosters will then let it known he won't be let go.

i have read or heard somewhere that Super Bowl weekend in the US has a history of having an amazing number of bills passed in congress. look at the left hand so you don't see what the right is doing...

id let him go personally, but the roosters (particularly Politis) seem to love him, even if his team mates don't necessarily feel the same way.
