WSDRLFC support WT proposal with some conditions

You might be right but i read Mr Canavans report and it didnt touch on any of those issues.

I agree the area has been handled badly and will support any decent plan to fix the problem.

**My concerns are that the Wests Tigers proposal needs to include strategic, business and marketing plans plus solid timelines for the initiatives they are proposing.**

So far no such documents exist.

They need to put everything on the table so a proper and correct decision can be made.

That's a fair comment Galahs. It's all well and good to put forward a strategy, but it needs to be backed up with reasonable timelines to implement the initiatives.

It's a good opportunity to WT to consolidate the south west and actually take ownership of the area.

Has there been any mention of WT overseeing the junior competition Galahs, even though they're owned by another private company?

**Magpies' concern**

Western Suburbs officials want to know if Wests Tigers plan to eventually set up base in Campbelltown after plans were unveiled for a Centre of Excellence to be built there for the club's under-20s squad, the Cubs development squad and Magpies junior representative sides. The question is one of several put forward by Western Suburbs football club directors after Wests Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys outlined a proposal to extend the joint venture to NSW Cup level with Balmain and Wests fielding a combined team next season. Humphreys also told last Thursday's historic meeting of the boards of the Western Suburbs football club, Balmain football club, Wests Leagues Ashfield, Wests Leagues Campbelltown and Balmain Leagues Club that a Centre of Excellence would be built at Campbelltown by 2014 and the club's under-20s team would be based there. While concerned the loss of their own NSW Cup team would be a further erosion of the Magpies identity, Western Suburbs officials feel they have little option but to support the proposal provided a list of six conditions drafted at Tuesday night's board meeting are met. Among them are guarantees that they will remain in charge of football in the Campbelltown area and Magpies teams will continue to play in the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball competitions.

I guess the counter question to all that is if everything is based out at Campbelltown, what's left in the inner-west apart from 4 games at Leichhardt? I don't say this to start an argument but it is a legitimate concern for Balmain Football club members.

Did any Balmain officials raise concern about the loss of Balmain's identity?

Who knows. There has not been much press on the Balmain reaction. I guess it is a relative argument. Wests probably believe their brand has been further eroded than that of Balmain's.

Why was Balmain Leagues Club in attendance? I thought this was a shareholder meeting?

Realistically I cannot see the club ever be based out of the Western Suburbs full time.

Positive moves in regrd to COE etc.

Also positive reaction from WSDRLFC thus far which is a really pleasant change from past seasons

I believe it was a stakeholder rather than shareholder meeting…

How can WT take ownership of a area that are not based in?

People are not silly you cant just pop into an area when you want and expect people flock to the games.
