Would be interesting to see if the assosiation will be open with what conditions these are

I think there would be some reasonable conditions surrounding it. Interesting times ahead re future of WT, WSM & BT

What is the proposal ?
To merge the second grade teams ?

And the answer is yes but on certain conditions … Is that right ?

Well that's really good news …. Glad to see common sense prevailed in the end.
So three grades of Wests Tigers for next season .... It's all coming together bit by bit.

Fantastic news! One hopes the conditions negotiated are acceptable for all parties involved. Time will tell but i'm hopeful.

Do we have visibility of the points that were discussed???.

This is really positive for all involved IMO.

If the parties have agreed in principal then the finer details can be worked out in the months ahead.

Congratulations to all involved on achieving a great outcome.

Good that the principle proposal was agreed upon… BUT...

"subject to conditions"

The conditions could be reasonable and the WT agree to....Or they could be totally non-negotiable and we are back at square one.

I'd wait to find out what these conditions are before declaring it a done deal..... and then I guess it will be put to the members of both football clubs?

I am wondering… are the Wests Tigers in financial difficulties?

With the situation Balmain Leagues finds itself in, I wonder if Wests Tigers are feeling a little cash strapped.

Would explain why they are so keen on getting their hands on Wests Magpies funding.

Simple answer Galahs is no.

It was reported last year that we were almost break even last season before taking into consideration Leagues club grants and this season thus far we have actually inccreased our sponsorship and thus far if I am not mistaken have had a higher average crowd at our non Trust games than we had at a similar point last season.

There is not always a clandestine plan in place

Why are they so keen to see the magpies go?

The Magpies budget doesnt affect the Wests Tigers.

They have all the Wests Tigers contracted players in one side.

So what makes them think if the Magpies go, will Ashfield hand them the moneys the Maggies get?

There's more to it im sure.

I wouldnt be surprised if Wests tigers are struggling for cash and maybe the Arlc has a funding proposal based on the junior base you look after. Why else are they suddenly interested in becoming the district club. Earlier this year with all the problems with the Wests JL they wanted nothing to do with it.

Why the change of heart?

Somethings up

If I were to take a stab I would guess that maybe Mr Carnarvon (sp?) finished his report to the peak body and because the area has been managed worse than a third trimester abortion for the last few decades the peak body was now willing to make the move and recognise the peak district body as Wests Tigers removing all the self serving parasites who have divided the area from positions of any real power.

(Please note I am not reffering to Magpies fans, members etc or those within Ashfield recently appointed and making steps towards unity but to those you are aware of yourself Galahs who have given nothing and use the district and local leagues for their own ego massage and kick backs)

That would be my guess.

Also I wouldn't put it down to seeing the Magpies go more an extension of WT branding

You might be right but i read Mr Canavans report and it didnt touch on any of those issues.

I agree the area has been handled badly and will support any decent plan to fix the problem.

My concerns are that the Wests Tigers proposal needs to include strategic, business and marketing plans plus solid timelines for the initiatives they are proposing.

So far no such documents exist.

They need to put everything on the table so a proper and correct decision can be made.

Strategic planning yes I agree with you there. I feel this should probably take place with a Commission representative as well as the area is about more than Wests Tigers

However when it comes to Distrct and local football I don't really feel or see the need for marketing or business plans to come from WT. I say this because in terms of marketing it really should always be community driven and implemented and in terms of business plan I am of the belief that the WT club could not do so wihout laying complete operational budgets for the entire business structure in the public domain and you simply do not do that. Checks and balances are always required though.

The white paper seems to have been a starting point initiated by WT to get the ball rolling and from here both JV partners will come back with their reccomendations and we move forward from there. The very nature of the WT as an entity means this will be a relatively drawn out procedure.

The important things remain what is best for Wests Tigers, both district and both junior leagues and there is a real chance that this will be without the Magpie or the Balmain Tiger and as long as this serves the communities mentioned I am all for it

So have Balmain come out in support of this proposal? Will there football club members get a vote or a say in the matter?

No public statements have been made to my knowledge Staks though I am led to believe they are in the process similar to WSDJRLFC in terms of reccommendations on how to best implement the WT's strategic white paper
