WT Forget Campbelltown

Do not think the Club does not know where the bulk areas that the supporter base is …one click on a key tells them that a membership base of 17 k members gives them that .

What a nightmare all of this stuff is. I'm not sure what the answer is but I think it'd be better if the Macarthur region showed they were behind the Tigers via crowd support prior to councillors stating things like that.

It was plenty full in round 2\. Can't expect a full house in 7 degree temperature, against an out of town team, in the middle of the losing streak we were in.

Sydneysiders wont support a losing team….win and 'watch them come'

Why does the club need to be based near it's corporate sponsors? Are we only sponsored by local businesses in the inner west?

I never understand the the argument that campbelltown doesn't deserve a team because the crowd numbers are low. If you take in to account the team we're playing and the time and day of the game, our crowd figures have been fairly similar across all 3 stadiums over the last couple of years.

Who honestly thinks where a club's head office is has any impact whatsoever on fans supporting that team?

Don't see how being based in Campbelltown is suddenly going to bring thousands of supporters out of the woodwork.

12,232 isn't exactly jam packed

Double what was there the other night. Ctown has been bashed from pillar to post the last few years regarding crowd numbers, when the truth is, overall they aren't too much different to Leichhardt.

Canberra vs Cows got almost 10.5k and it was -2 degrees. And they're only a few spots above us.

Canberra weren't on a 6 game losing streak.

That is very true.

Lets say you were a CEO or an owner of aa company looking to invest in sponsorship of a sports team.Part of that is getting a corporate box to entertain existing and potential clients.
You have a choice of AFL at the SCG or Spotless, Cricket at the same venues, Soccer or NRL at Allianz, Homebush and Parra Stadium or Wests Tigers at Campbelltown.
Now, unless your a mad keen tigers fan, your probably not gonna go with us. You have lots of better options.

Sorry, but the Campbo folk aren't interested and never have been. Prior to the merge the West juniors were a disgrace - Wests failed dismally to develop the region. The refurb of Campbelltown was rushed to fit the Olympic Games timetable. The first game btwn Balmain and Wests was atrocious - the turf kept lifting and the sand beneath was exposed. Goats couldn't play on that track! I've said this before but it's worth reminding folk of how dumb the Wests fans were back then - during the ceremony the choir and band played a familiar song and the entire original grandstand full of West supporters stood as one - It was the Peter Allen tune Still Call Australia Home! Those near me & my mate (we in our Tigers gear) abused us for being disrespectful - I shot back and said mate I don't stand for the QANTAS Advert either!

While Wests Ashfield is in control i doubt we would ever move base out there, Concord being just around the corner from Ashfeild probably suits them just fine.

Yeah, Cool story.

Next year when we are winning the crowds will be back at all venues.
Campbelltown SUX by the way, I know I live there.

I cant believe these blokes… How incompetent are they out there. How long since they had a full time tenant for their stadium? The people of the region deserve better from their council.

Whats he waiting for? Get on the phone and lock in Souths mate. They sound like a sure thing!

Speaking of inept, how is good old Darcy going these days? Don't think I've seen him mentioned on here in at least a year.

I'd love if we made concord oval our home ground. Put in an upgrade, sort out some parking, put in a leagues club next door, along with the COE & she'll be sweet.

Bit of a pipe dream tho.

No just a 4 game with an almost full strength roster. They had no right to draw such a good crowd.

I would like if we had decent training facilities wherever they were. If Ashfield are going to knock back support, I hope they are willing to invest money independently and not blame a lack of nsw government handouts for the lack of any centre of excellence

What's that got to do with what he said?

"Maybe" the council should lower the fare and make the conditions more appealing for the club??
OR Maybe if they used the stadium more often, the price could be lowered?

Surely you don't think if the Tigers are the main Money Spinners for the venue annually that we aren't carrying most of the bill??

Cambo really is a great place to watch Footy - But we're losing money to play there…
It's got nothing to do with the Tigers... The last crowd they got there for the Maggies was around the 7k mark...
After years in the area - For their last ever game!!

If we ever come good again, The numbers might come up... But even then I feel it would only be for a bit.

We should be making money everywhere we play (like ANZ)

When the Magpies originally came out to Campbelltown they really started to look after the schools in and outside the area, they advertised in the newspaper and on the radio, they where at junior games in Group 6 pumping the magpie cause but this to me and others has really stopped even before the merger. Our crowds ranged from 7-8 thousand up to when the merger came through. To me personally West Ashfield are really yo blame for the mess of not looking after the area. And in my area of Ingleburn i know kids who are at Souths,Roosters,Bulldogs and they all say the same thing there is no one really running and looking after the Juniors that has been a bug bare for the last 10yrs.

Yes the media and even the club often seem to make out that the crowd numbers at the venues are polar opposites, but that's not really the case. Not to mention, many of the teams we are scheduled to play at Campbelltown are usually the out of town teams! Unfair comparisons.

Not to mention Canberra is a stand alone team in the nation's capital! Might have a bit bigger fan base than a western Sydney suburb I imagine.
