Wests had a pretty good record against Parra there as well.
The Eels from memory hadn't beaten Us there for about 7 years.
Pratten Park was a great place to watch the Mighty Maggies with Noel Kelly, Peter Dimond etc.
Used to get there at about 1/2 time in third grade and watch the young blokes come thru into Reserve then 1st Grade.
Great memories 🤔
But bloody hell....so many years ago with not enough to get to excited about since we became Wests Tigers 🙁
Sounds like you and I had similar experiences. I started going to Pratten Park around 1964. Used to walk to the ground from my home in Enfield, get there for the third grade and watch all three games. Would run on the ground after full time in the firsts to pat Noel, Peter and the boys on the back and then walk home. Didn't realise at the time what an idyllic Saturday afternoon that was.

I used to walk from Croydon but I reckon you would have had an even longer walk.
Although I used to walk from Enfield Pool back home on school sports day.

Good for you to have the experience of being up close to your/our then heroes.

Yep idylic Sat. a'noons for sure, no Sunday footy back in those days from memory.

Could've caught the 420 bus🙂.

Believe Parramatta never beat us at Lidcombe from before my time around 71 right through to 84.

Even in 82, 83 when they were premier we won and even in 84 whilst only winning 1 game all year ( due to being unjustly kicked out in 83, 84) we led at half time.

Some consider the Magpies as losers because they ran last 6 times in the 80s and 90s.but their were reasons outside our own control since...

83, 84 kicked out in off season by NSWRL and couldn't prepare.

87, 88 forced to relocate our home ground and juniors under threat of being kicked out again and losing players mostly to Balmain.

98, 99 couldn't attract anyone because it was decided the club wouldn't continue due Super league.

And before that rorted out of premierships.

Obviously, attempts to cancel Wests have been going on a while by scum.

All sounds like you’re living on memories to me we are the Wests Tigers
Not only memories. The whole reason many follow the Wests Tigers.

And also how half the foundation to the Wests Tigers was built.

Since we are one club now I wouldn't want to cancel how many Balmain fans support the Wests Tigers.

Will not accept any cancellation of the Magpies either.

There was a great pop group called Cliff Richard and The Shadow's way back in the 60's, but you may not be old enough to know about them.

Anyway.... your idea of finding 40 million smackers may not be to far off the mark.

A while ago I suggested the NRL could pay to re-locate WT to Campbelltown and some of those $$$ could be used to buy out Wests Ashfield from Wests Tigers.
A new Board is appointed by popular vote but still being 90% controlled by Wests Magpies as is the case currently.
As to whether we stay as WT or revert to WM is also put to a popular vote.
I realise this is probably nothing more than fantasy pie in the sky though 🙂.
Hank B Marvin & Bruce Welch. 😎 cool as.

Wasn't sure which discussion to post this in so thought Front Office stuff ups to to give them some suggestions to improve.

A couple of things have stood out to me from a member & fan communications perspective this past month ...

1 - Lack of information on who is signed to the Club on Top 30, Train & Trial, NSW Cup & Pathways (however these contracts are termed i.e. Flegg contract, Ball contract, Cubs contract, Pathways contract, Elite Development Squad contract).

2 - Where our Pathways/Cubs are playing outside of NSW Cup, JF, SG & HM. For example, if our juniors are playing on Sunday for Campbelltown East magpies in the Macarthur A grade.

What I would like our media/comms team to do is:

1 - Re-format the Players Profiles section on the website to break down which players are in which squad & some profile information on each. All this takes is a block of time in the pre-season to do this plus regularly update through the season as players are signed/depart etc.

2 - A news story on website each Friday to say these players will be lining up for Ryde Eastwood in the Ron Massey Cup, Camden Rams in the ..... etc etc. All this requires is communication between the Football/Development staff who know the movements of our Cubs & the Media team.

It's not that hard. I have worked in communications in national sporting organisations (including clubland for a rival football code) for 20+ years so I know how this can be done.
Have you sent these suggestions through to the boneheads involved?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed Andrew Fifita. He ticks a few boxes.

A former Tiger, playing here before he hit his prime, which we entirely missed out on ✅
A former representative/Origin star ✅
Currently is well past it and a shadow of his former self ✅
The Tigers think they can reignite that form, but instead of the player at least staying on his plateau, he falls off a cliff ✅
