WT Player Recruitment & Retention for 2020

Great Q&A with Logen Dillon one of our young guns in CC. You may need an Instagram account to see but for those that do https://instagram.com/stories/everythingweststigers/2243520980001385293?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=1g915xflhslgi

Good kid with heaps of talent! Watch this space.

The Telegraph reporting this morning that Russell Packer has had successful surgery on his toe and will be ready to play in 8 weeks and he's not interested in being medically retired wants to get back and show the way to the young WT'S pack, if only he could recapture some old form

Hopefully the surgery works for him this time.

So why didn't he have it early in the preseason? Makes absolutely zero sense.

He did...it wasn't successful

He had surgery last year, it didn’t work and they couldn’t figure out the issue for a while. The must’ve figured it out hence the surgery now

OK - thanks. Well, I do hope he gets back to his best. He could be useful later in the season.

Now that we seem to be in the off season can we start a thread for the 21 season
The list put up by the OP has a list of players off contract at the end of this season(??now).
There is plenty of dead wood amongst those players.
Not sure who’s going to be available but I’m feeling better about next year already.

There's enough dead wood to start another bush fire.

Number 1 priority ...... keep yourselves and your family safe and healthy until all this blows over.
Only then think about rugby league, WT and next season.
Keep safe.

So next year we have 11 spots to fill and we have the following off:

Offer new contract
1 Benji Marshall (Resign cheap if he wanted)
2 Oliver Clarke (Resign cheap only)

Let Go
1 Alex Seyfarth
2 Chris Lawrence
3 Chris McQueen
4 Dylan Smith
5 Elijah Taylor
6 Matt Eisenhuth
7 Paul Momo (we don't need him with BJ and Talau)
8 Rob Jennings
9 Sam Mcintyre

From those 9, the only ones who are going to give us much cap value are ET (500k) Jennings (300k) and McQueen (450k). Plus we get the 300k cap back from our penalty. As i see most of the others on pretty minimal contracts and we could really only replace them with minimum contracted players.

So from that, we can probably afford two decent players at that 500k-600k mark, and the rest will have to be up and coming players/value players/potential signings/discarded players on the cheap

Don't believe you said we don't need Momo, after sending him to Melbourne and now that I believe he has signed a 2 year extension.

You don't need him because you have Talau (who is not a centre) and in my opinion no where near as good as Momo at this stage.

Oh! well - that is your opinion and you are entitled I guess.

Yep .... Momo is a keeper. His got a contract extension and ..
Both Madge and Bellamy rate him so that will do me.
But early to talk about what’s on agenda for next year is bit premature when there’s no visibility around 2021 salary cap reductions, resulting impact on player contracts, what teams & players are available and competition viability and structure.
So for me zzzzzzzzz on this one.

Seyfarth won't be going anywhere, neither will Momirovski.
