WT Player Retention/Recruitment/Loss List

@ said:
If his debut game is anything to go by, Eisehuth comes straight into the top 17 next year.

After last night, the players that we have recruited will all be in first grade next year. From last night, only Eisenhuth, Liddle, Lolo, Taylor, Marsters and Suli will make it.

So to update as of this week we have:

Outside backs for 2018
- David Nofoaluma
- Moses Suli
- Malakai Watene-Zelezniak
- Tui Lolohea
- Corey Thompson
- Mahe Fonua
- Taane Milne

Halves for 2018-
- Luke Brooks
- Josh Reynolds
- Tyson Gamble

Front Row Forwards 2018
- Russell Packer
- Ben Matulino
- Alex Twal
- JJ Felise
- Jesse Sue
- Matt Eisenhuth
- Tim Grant (likely)

Backrowers 2018
- Michael Chee Kam
- Josh Aloiai
- Chris McQueen
- Chris Lawrence
- Esan Marsters
- Elijah Taylor (Option)

Hookers 2018
- Jacob Liddle
- Matt McIlwrick

Now we are at 25.
The Backrow is glaringly weak compared to any of the top sides and needs bolstering.

There may be a couple currently on the off contract list that end up getting resigned, so still leaves us with 3-5 places on the bus. Hopefully a speedy finisher, a quality backrower (maybe even two) and another outside back who can play fullback.

Youd have to ask Ivan…I guess he doesnt rate him

Well he is still young, better than his brother, maybe he is just giving him time to come on slowly in reggies, which is not a bad idea.

I think we could be rushing some of these young guys e.g. Twal - 20 is pretty young for a prop in the NRL and then Masters. Ok to give them a sniff but…

Is Eisenhuth signed? Suggest they lock him down quickly.

Our backrow is the area screaming out for reinforcements but need high caliber players, not Eastwood or Glenn

He wont be here next year

Eisenhuth was only signed to a full-time extended Squad contract for this year..the release of Rankin allowed him to move into the Top 25 ..

You would think given how he went there would be something on the table in the near future…

We need another half and a hooker in top 30 you would think.

So if we have 7 spots left I think we need to lock down:

• 1 utility back (wing/fullback) –--Rona / Kev?
• 1 half ---------- Littlejohn?
• 1 backrower ------- Glenn?
• 1 prop------ Vete/ Latimore / B Lawrence?
• 1 hooker --------- Ballin?
• 1 utility half/hooker/fb ----- Watson / JMK?
• 1 utility forward ------- Eisenhuth?

Some guesses based on rumours. Not many enticing backrowers on the market and I don't think our unsigned mob (Lovett, Edwards, Sironen etc) are up to it.

We have absolutely no depth in quality outside backs with genuine pace.

Spot on I think.

So from here we need:
1x Very Good Winger (maybe a Rona) who can also pressure Tui for Fullback spot - let Nofa and Fonua fight out the other spot, or maybe Fonua and Milne for centre

1 x backup five Eighth/Half who can keep Brooks honest and battle with Gamble for the position

2 x experienced props who can retain the pressure when Packer/Mat go off. These guys need to be very strong, and I think we still have the funds to pay them $400k - $500k each. Maybe a B.Lawrence, J.Latimore, though I wouldn't want to be paying them $500k, maybe $350k or $400k. I am assuming T.Grant goes, if he stays then we need only 1 more experienced prop.

1 x 2nd rower better than C.Lawrence, who I think tries his best and I really like him, but we need better. ET and McQ for other spot and Lock.

We have some good youth in Twal, Eisenhuth, Marsters, Felise, Aloiai, but we need more experience and punch in the forwards (and the backs).

Hoping for some good firesales from Bulldogs, Sharks or Roosters as clubs try to get cap compliant.

I think we are looking better for outside back and front row depth, if you add esienhuth and there are only 4 or 5 spots, then I think we need to target 1 or 2 more FG back rowers. Surely we need one more decent backup half (don't know if anyone from isp would be an option given our form). Add one more tall winger, with some pace, and I'd be happy with the options Cleary would have at his disposal.

Okay thanks. I remember something about him going back to Souths

Is Eisenhuth actually signed next year? I don't think eisenhuth or ET are officially on the books for 2018 currently?

Also, anyone know if Tatola or Siro are signed for 2018?

Young Sirro wont be in Ivans plans next year

Wonder if dad will spit the dummy again. Not saying the kid can't play, but I've never got the vibe from him that he would crack first grade here.
