It's awful.

Only 2 NRL trials before the season starts. We need to give our youngsters a chance to gel, work on combinations and get some confidence. 2 games, one of which in the NT, is simply not enough.

The 9's don't count either, totally different format and skills required.

Looks like we are on par with the other NRL clubs…

We only had 2 NRL trials last season as well didn't we ??

With the amount of injuries we had during last seasons 9's and the trials why would we want more ??

yeah fair call  tiger

they should reduce it to 1 trial i reckon. and drop it to 22 games per club as well, no mid season anzac test.

i think greg inglis played something like 30-35 games this year, pretty ridiculous imo.

the dinos on here will probably rip into me and say 'ohhh back in the day players played the nrl season then went over to england played there, played more rep footy, then played for the other 8 regional clubs they were a part of in the offseason"

Who invented this 9's tournament?….I cannot see the logic in it unless it was for the lower grades.... to strut their stuff....

I don't get the trial in Alice Springs. Talk about tough conditions that time of the year. Players would take a couple of weeks to recover from playing in that heat.

Yeh me too…I fail to see what benefit we get out of it. Parra have a sponsorship with the NT govt...its good for them, we may sign a few memberships....Alice springs in Feb quite crazy imo

They will play with sprinklers turned on along the sidelines on each side

The nines is a complete circus IMO , as you stated it should be for the under 20's so the people who don't follow the lower grades can see what the future has to offer .

bloody oath , we started on the back foot from the 9's tournament this year , with Sirro injuring his ankle  , well besides our 1st game demolition from the Dragons we did start the year quite good

Then again where in Australia is it not warm (and or humid )

I rather play in 37 degree heat with low humidity than play in 33 degree heat with 70 to 80% humidity

I'm still an advocate of 2 x 8 team conferences - play your conference twice (home and away)and the other once (home and away on alternate years )- 22 games and much fairer than the present system. Unfortunately I think the NRL is tied to certain number of weeks in the current TV deal.
