Xbox died

I don't play all that often and in fact I use it for DVDs more than games. But the other day, mid-FA Cup on FIFA 2010, it froze and keeps freezing a few minutes in every time I try to reload a game or DVD. The problem seems unrelated to my hard drive, so I'll only have to get the Arcade model if I buy another… but I see Red Dead Redemption will be out on PS3, so that's another strike for Xbox.

Asking around, it seems having a problem with it was not a matter of if but when - I know somebody who is on his third console.

Has anybody _not_ had a problem with their Xbox?

my Xbox 360 is lazarus-esque.
It died and got that red ring of dath people talk about…its happened a couple of times.....
but it still works 100%

I don't have a 360\. I just have the first Xbox. Never had a problem with it except for one time when I lost against the computer player in Rugby League 2\. The Xbox cheated.

I got my Xbox360 in december 2006 and I've yet to have a 'serious' problem. Gears of War got a bit screwy on me, but outside of that, no real problems.

To be fair though, I rarely play the thing, In the last 2 years I've probably only bought one game.

I don't even get as far as the red ring of death…

On my second 360 the first one got the red ring of death but my new one Ive had for a year and no dramas. I also got an extended warranty for 2 years though just in case.

Got the ring of death 4 years ago and never had an issue since… Ring microsoft.... most boxes have a 3 year warranty due to the ring of death issue... They pay postage and will get it back to you in a few days.

I run my box as a media center (it's on for hours and hours at a time in some instances) and it runs fine...

Is your box modded?

Yeah I got the ring of death a couple of years ago, had it fixed and it's been sweet ever since.

Thanks for that - I'll give them a call. It isn't modded, so I should be good to go.

Yep, I had the red ring of death a couple of years back as well. Did the old blanket trick, which is meant to be a temporary fix, but it hasn't broken down since, amazingly.

What's the blanket trick?

Anyway, M'soft have my console, hoping it (or one just like it…) gets back to me soon.
