There's a rumour floating around that the hammer may fall on another 2-3 players but I really hope no one else has been stupid enough to run a cycle of gear through them.
Wouldn't surprise me. Just my guess, but I reakon there'd be 2-3 every year that could test positive but just don't get caught.
I have no doubts you are correct. Some players would be more than happy to play russian roulette with their future if it means short term gain(money talks). Not all players are tested and never will be
I don't see why it is so hard. They should drug test every player, every month (or however long the stuff stays in your system). Why don't they, is it a logistics thing? Well they should put more resources to it.
It's like speeding in a car, if they punish you only when they catch you, and they don't catch you very often, it's not going to be an effective deterrent. But if they put something in the car which automatically detects which road you're on and what the limit is and if you're speeding automatically fine you (I suspect they will one day, they're nearly there now), then that would be a lot more effective than the process now in place.
I understand that people are always looking for the loopholes, and there are workarounds on even the best systems, but I don't see why they don't test every player frequently. if it's a funding thing, the NRL should be forced by government to contribute some funds to it via a tax or something, every sport should.
Surely the Sharks' professional and coaching staff should have been alerted when the sprint coach Xerri was working with went off about his increase in pace?
My thinking is that at best the sharks staff knew something smelled fishy ...... even a dispassionate observer of the sharks team/players (like myself) could see the huge change in physique he had undergone in the last 6-9 months. Impossible not to notice....... look at the pictures,.... sharks may not be behind it but they had to have known something was happening and it just wasn't extra sprint sessions....
Exactly. I guess we can say something smelt Sharky in view of what has happened in the past.
Where does duty of care come into it? Why couldn't the Club and Xerri approach ASADA with representation and an NRL rep admitting to use and seeking say a 6 month ban based on his age alone. This is what.should have happened and reflects poorly on Cronulla. I do hope someone takes his case up.
6 month ban? Have you seen the list of drugs his A sample has shown up? If the B sample confirms he doesn't deserve a reduction.
Taking Morris might not be a good idea either lol
He is 19 and impressionable. This reeks of a teenager being easily influenced and the failure of the Sharks to look after one so young.
