Nathan Cleary has stated many times that he is like having another halfback on the field with him, such is his intuition and ability to read a game and make correct decisions. This is despite the fact that he is a big body who gets through a mountain of work every week...40+ tackles and 150+m consistently. His defence is rock solid. His attack is nuanced with power and aggression coupled with speed, footwork and slight of hand ballplaying. As a captain, he converts the game plans practiced all week into game winning efforts on the field. If you have seen the Undisputed documentary about Penrith, you would have noticed that Yeo does all the primary talking in huddles, conveying the coaches words perfectly and reiterating that they understand how to beat the team they are facing and have done the work to do so, whilst Nathan provides the Rocky-esque speeches after he is done to fire them up.
Yeo is not only the best captain in the game, he is very close to the best player in the game. He hasnt been rewarded personally as much as he should have been due to coming from a team full of high achievers who take points from him in Dally M races. Had he played for teams like Sharks or Raiders, he would have likely scored a Dally M player of the year by now.
