Yileen Gordon

One of the laziest players running around. He will fit in well with Bodene. Unbelievable.

It's like every thing in life, you have to work hard to get rewards. At 26 years old I think that Yilleen would know that by now.

Actually, Gordon is quite a good player. Needs to get fitter, but very talented. I would take a bet that the people taking pot shots at him have not seen him play at all.

I saw him play a lot of nsw cup games a few years ago. He once got brushed off by a flat footed (pre NRL) Gareth Widdop.
He has ability. He chooses not to use it. I can't see him changing what he's been doing for half a decade now.

We could've not signed him & be no worse off. Waste of money, 1 year or not, nsw cup or not.

Most of our NSW Cup players arent any better than him so why not? The bloke isn't even on big money, who cares?

x2

Hopefully he surprises.
Good look !

So we accept mediocrity & justify a shit player because we don't have many good players in NSW cup?

Yep, thats how you build a successful franchise right there.

Yep, thats how you build a successful franchise right there.

You have not seen him play for a couple of years and yet you have bagged him big time. Lighten up.

Wests Tigers are pleased to welcome centre Yileen Gordon to the Club.
>
Gordon joins Wests Tigers on a one-year second tier contract, with his arrival offering the chance to work towards a return to the NRL.
>
The 26-year-old made his NRL debut in 2005 and has played a total of 71 games for South Sydney, Canterbury and Penrith. Most recently, Gordon played the 2013 season with NSW Cup side, Newtown.
>
Wests Tigers Coach Mick Potter said Gordon’s attitude has been positive during the first two weeks of pre-season training and he looks forward to working with him over the coming months.
>
“I’ve been impressed with what he has been doing at training so far,” Potter said.
>
“He has been diligent, hard-working and is looking trim.
>
“Yileen has still got good speed and size, he’s got the rare talent of being able to beat his man and set up his outside player.”
>
With Chris Lawrence, Tim Simona and Keith Lulia featuring in the top squad, Gordon provides both depth and another option in the centre position.
>
Gordon has enjoyed the first two weeks of pre-season training.
>
“It’s fantastic to be back amongst it again and I’m looking forward to repaying the Wests Tigers for the good faith they have shown in me,” Gordon said.
>
“I want to have a good pre-season, set myself up for the year ahead and break into first grade eventually.
>
“There’s a good young bunch of guys here who have been on the radar for a bit and 2014 looks to be a big year for the Club.”

Center eh?

5 pages for a 2nd tier contract….jeez.

we threw him a lifeline, and we needed depth in that position. happy with the signing. if it doesn't work then who cares? people have really been stung by the blair signing i think...

never know, he could be that success story next year. Just picture it, round 24 tigers 3rd on the ladder, brooks, teddy, siro, farah all firing and our recruits, pat richards, taupau and Yileen Gordon doing equally well! :roll

may have gotten a little carrried away, but point is give him a break he is not on much money and the risk is minimal to nonexistent. :sign:

Good luck to the bloke, a change of scenery is sometimes the kick in the backside some players need. I just hope Yileen puts in 100% every week regardless of what grade he is playing.

I have not seen this kid play nor in fact have I ever heard of him. I intend to give him the benefit of the doubt.
i.e. I will watch him play a few games and then make a judgement.
The most important point I would like to make is that I trust Mick Potter and his judgement - he knows the big picture and what he is trying to create. After all, if what he is planning does not work out - everyone will be screaming for his head not ours. With that in mind isn't he entitled to have the players he wants, the coaching staff he wants and adopt the game plan each week that he devises.
Unlike this year - in 2014 he will have everything he needs to make big improvements. He will have no excuse come season end. Note I said season end - I hope they do not judge someone after the first eight rounds like I read here earlier in the year. The contract was signed - it is up to both parties to honour it.

Not a bad signing. Its not as if we paid overs for him at all and he provides us with depth and some experience. He played fairly well at the bulldogs, when they had him in the backrow and was probably unlucky not to play more first grade there. I've followed his career since he made his debut and he has always been a great defender and is pretty strong too. More importantly, signings like this create competition for spots in both first grade and nsw cup which is great for the club.

Center eh?

Ink that should of always been his position , but he always seemed to carry some extra kgs and conditioning and was probably why he became a utility forward

Considering how injury prone Lawrence is and Simona just coming out of a shoulder reconstruction a depth signing for the centre position is a good one.

I like Potter's strategy on signing all these low key players on short term deals rather than just buying the first big name player that show interest on leaving there club. If these players turn out to be gems then fantastic, if not, then our buying power will not be affected come 2015
