Yileen Gordon

If you did a bit of research yourself Leesha, you would see that our injury toll meant most of our reserve talent was in first grade….and those players were some of the best performed throughout the year in 1st grade.

I know you want to defend your partner, but it might not be the best tactic to post comments like that when trying to get people to see your POV.

Like I say to my son, if you start a sentence with "no offence", then you know you are about to state something that is going to offend someone - so why say it in the first place?

might be speaking for alexaki here but he may be saying that hopefully we dont have the injuries to force us to play a reserve grader. dont think that's offensive at all

All good that's what these forums are for the fans to have there say. Good luck to the tigers in 2014 that's all I have to say. They have my support from 1st grade to the under 20s  except when they are playing the rabbitohs. Hopefully all players rip in for pre season next week. Good night

you could say it a lot better than "i hope we dont see you in FG" or "no offence but i hope you don't play FG" That's deprecating to the player and everyone involved with his development. I dont know him, but i bet he doesn't deserve disparaging comments like that.

Saying something like "I hope we aren't ravaged by injuries again and all the state cup/nyc players have proper development, including Yileen." is a lot better.

All the best to him, sure he's a top bloke and hope he cracks 1st grade through hard work and determination, something almost all good FG players share. :sign:

Some comments are ridiculous here.

Each and every player should be constantly assessed, for their fitness, their commitment, their skill development, their attitude towards the team, their combinations and potential to form combinations etc.

If Buddy works hard he can potentially add value to the team. If the value is there then we'd be mad not to use it, if it isn't well he'd hardly be a big money sink.

Also remember that the player market is slim pickings atm. 2015 is when we will recruit big, so save your angst for then.

We will be a **Niger** side than last year

😱pen_mouth:

could be talking about having more people from Niger. haha or an autocorrect from 'bigger' dunno which is more likely.

If it's the latter it's a good thing it didn't change to something else haha. I for one welcome our new Nigerien recruits.

Hahaha it's ok. I'm sure he hasn't done his research on Buddy and he wouldn't even have half the nrl games that buddy has on you's. abit of advice have a look at the newtown vs tigers footage from last season & watch buddy run all ova the tigers cup side when he was way above playing weight & definitely not at his best. Another thing his not a player that no one wanted, there was other offers & he chose to go to the tigers. I don't want to comment on here anymore as if buddy knew I got caught up in even writing on here he wouldn't be very happy. Just remember the tigers came 2nd last & any changes would be better then that. I will just sit back & watch everyone criticise & I can't wait until he proves you all wrong in 2014\. Tigers for the top 8\. Thanks again for those who had positive comments

Hope your right mate,

Everyone is so quick to judge, let him prove himself good or bad!

Until then, we can't be too critical!

Our top 25 will come from the 33 players named by the club already. Why the uproar over a second-tier contract? Low risk, if it doesn't work out we have the nsw cup depth to cover. If it works well then it's a masterstroke.

Everyone had a problem because Blair was a high-risk signing on a long term deal and it failed, club signs low-risk players on short term deals with a view of having money free for 2015 for marquee signings and now that's a problem.

Management will never win with this senseless criticism.

X2.

It's easy to critisize every move made.
When the fact is, we don't know the reasons behind certain signings.

The coach obviously wants him, whether it is just a depth signing, or maybe if he's playing most of the year in nsw cup, some added experience to an overall young squad???

I sent the Anon message, didn't realise i wasn't logged in. Yeah people let opinions get in the way of facts. 19 of the 33 preseason squad have played less than 25 NRL games. We have signed halatau, paterson, austin and gordon on the cheap, combined they have played over 300 NRL games. In 2014 we will have the best depth the club has ever had.

For some reason people assume that every signing made will play 24 nrl games

Austin went from next superstar to reserve grader because the new Penrith board took over. The facts are the previous management signed players for double what they were actually worth.

The story with austin is he had KPI's which, if met, activated clauses and bonuses in his contract which would have seen him make $300k+ per year. Nothing to do with his talent.

Actually, Gordon is quite a good player. Needs to get fitter, but very talented. I would take a bet that the people taking pot shots at him have not seen him play at all.

I think any signing we make their should be the expectation that at some stage they will help get our club up near the top of the tree and I just dont see what Gordon can offer at this stage of his career. I would have thought he will be holding a young kid back who is trying to move from u20s into reserve grade. Anyway lets hope he puts egg on my face
