Young Fans Not Choosing the Tigers

My three youngest Kids (&, 12 &13) had a Charity Jersey Day at school down Menai way in Syd.

All were adamant that they DIDNT want wear their Tigers gear.

In the car they were debating which team the should move across to as the Tigers always loose.

The point of this thread is to highlight that this is what years of Garbage results and no clear direction is delivering success in the foreseeable future.

Generational Support is deserting this club.

Really Concerned.
Non of the kids in our family go for the Tigers

Sad thing is its Rosters, Storm and now Panthers

Attacking footy with out Defence and toughness will give the same results

Kids went from seeing Benji and loving the Tigers - exciting players and team to watch...

Then I believe the next wave was Benny Barba at the Bulldogs or Eels era Hayne.

Then briefly Ponga and now it's probably the Penrith powerhouse.

Kids ain't going to be into our team as we've got no real stand out star - a franchise player. Plus we always lose. It's not inspiring at all.

There'll be no new fans coming along any time soon - maybe some that are born to it and/or are forced... but Kids are going to be drawn to some one like Reece Walsh at the Broncos or similar.
If it wasn't for Benji I probably wouldn't of supported this team tbh... Dad was originally a Wests fan so he pushed hard for me to support this team but it was seeing Benji as a 6-7 year old work his magic on the field that made me fall in love with this club. Now i'm regretting my life choices 🤣 🤣

Been pushing hard for my Nephew to support us but now I'm thinking do I want to do that to the poor kid.

We're the least enjoyable team to watch. No heart, no passion, no skill, no x factor.
We recruit solid and boring players, but no-one that can win us a game.

I'd be less worried about kids not choosing Tigers and more worried about kids not choosing rugby league at all. My son is totally into soccer and watches youtube about overseas players, but far less into rugby league in general.

Kids always come and go as fans, my daughter today (9 years old) said she thought she should start supporting Dolphins because "I believe they are new and they need new fans".

The wins are so much sweeter when you're so used to losing.
Crazy to think the last time I had seen finals football was back in grade 5 i remember exploding during the raiders game were we gave them the penalty from basically nearly infront, also think I cried after we lost to the dragons I think I’d honestly cry if we even made the 8 now haha

Apart from Tedesco we havnt had a player like Benji the kids could look up to and get excited about. We havnt had that dynamic, charismatic player. In my day as a Balmain supporter we had the late 80s team full of players we could look up to, my favourite was Tim Brasher. The young generation today don't really have anyone at the club they can latch on to. That's totally on the club though, not a knock on your kids. Really it's sad but I can't blame them. If I was growing up today with my old man as a Tigers supporter I don't know if I'd jump on the ship again either, but unfortunately it's in my blood now and I can't get rid of it.

You need to use the Jedi mind control techniques.

Yeah hard to convince anybody to be a fan of a team not performing well.

My two eldest gave up years ago now my youngest is talking about following the Panthers. This would have bothered me awhile ago.

That's how I look back on the Balmain days. So many fond memories of upset wins. But for me, that doesn't cut it now. The odd upset just isn't good enough. Although after a few beers I Don watch the highlights and then last 5 minutes of last year's win against Parra. That was a huge win that one.

My son, now 17 ditched WT when he was about 10, My daughter, 13, has kept the faith although her interest is flagging quickly. She gives it to her mostly Cowboys or Bronco supporting mates but unless we jag a few wins I think she'll have to quiet down.

My kids are the same. They say even before the games start, that we won't win. They are used to seeing WT lose. It's a shame we keep doing circles.

Yup, 6 kids, lost all of them bar the 2nd youngest. Youngest 14 now at 10 said, they're frustrating Dad, im following Storm along with my older brother. Make it worse, wife is a Manly supporter.. they just look at me as if I have a big L on my forehead during footy season dinner get together on weekends. Here I am thinking cmon, just have a finals season to have a come back at them.. just seem waiting for eternity.
