Young Fans Not Choosing the Tigers

Yeah well I'm no kid anymore,I'm starting to like the Richmond Tigers more than the WTs tigers...that's how bad this team and club has shaken me up over the years . Tragic really..

Both my girls have told me they like The Panthers because they’re pink.
Broke my heart at first 😂
Stopped trying to convince them to go for The Tigers.
My wife couldn’t care any less about footy ,however she hates how much time I waste with this club and how annoyed I am 90% of the time after a game.
Would love to take them to games and actually leave happy and excited for the next one.Who knows ,we could turn it around in the next few years,if so I’ll restart my campaign of trying to convince them to love this club as much as my dumbass does.

Perth would be a rabble if we shipped the club over there. If you were a new club would you really want Lee & Pascoe involved?
I'd be confident that a move to WA would ensure Lee and Pascoe had no further involvement in the club. As for being a rabble, what would you call the current situation?

This thread should be shown to Wests Tigers Admin and let them see the depth of non-connection.
It really saddens me.
I'm telling you it's not specific to the Tigers results, it's a general rugby league challenge. My kids (and other kids we know) don't fail to support Tigers because Tigers don't win enough, they fail to support rugby league at all and mostly care about watching youtube and playing Minecraft. I had no such distractions as a boy in the 1980s.

Now my son "supports Tigers" but he's not interested in watching games on TV; he doesn't have the attention span as a 7 year-old. 6-7 was when I started to convert to watching Balmain. He'll go to a live match because it's an interesting experience, not because he wants to lock down 80 mins of footy. He's relatively indifferent to the results precisely because he's not that invested.

So what your saying is there are no kids that want to grow up and be Twal when they're older?
Crying shame.
Kids, you can play 100 games and never score, run at full pace like your in sand and have 2 chances every set to crash over from 10 out and make 5 metres.
What are these kids thinking nowadays?

That is so painfully true it is worth laughing twice

Well that guarantees that our collection of brain dead fossils have no idea
I think 10 years of repeating the same mistakes has proven that Fruit Pascals and the other fruit loops on the board are running the football club into the ground and once the supporter base drops off and the nrl delete us, what’s left to run? Wests Ashfield league’s club?
Good luck with that.

AFL will always be bigger than the NRL.

9/10 kids prefer AFL instead of League in my opinion.

Never got into the sport myself, but you can name more AFL stars then NRL stars.

Ben Cousins
Nick Riewoldt
Jason Akermanis
Dustin Martin
Lance Franklin
Patrick Dangerfield
Gary Ablet JR
Big bad Barry Hall

list goes on...

For me, Robbie Farah was my favourite, followed by Gareth Ellis.. Rather the work horse who is out there most of the time..

Not in NSW and QLD...

Whist the Tigers may be on the nose with kids, you have got to be kidding that 90% prefer AFL... they certainly arent at Swans or even more laughably Giants games...

Not sure why when the club has world beaters like Brooks at the joint for a decade, every kid should aspire to being terrible at your job and still being paid $1 mill plus for it.

I live in Newy and have taken my son to the local games and to Leichhardt a couple of times. Poor bugger has never seen a Tigers win. After the last defeat his quote was "Rugby league has lost its magic". I blame the Roosters and the NRL. Why the Roosters? For cheating so well for so long that teams like the Bulldogs are following their example. While ever it's an uneven playing field, teams down the bottom will struggle. Tedesco should've been a Tiger for life.

Where do you live? Melbourne? Bendigo? Albury?

My kid can't even name the 2 Sydney AFL teams, he doesn't even know really what AFL is. Same for all the kids in my area inner South-West Sydney (Dragons district rugby league). All the kids here support Dogs or Dragons, quite a few for Parra or Tigers, but more again support soccer.

At the "wear your jersey day" they probably had 50/50 rugby league and overseas soccer clubs. Maybe 1 or 2 white Aussie kids wearing Swans gear.

My Son goes from Cronulla and Daughter goes for Penrith.

I don't blame any young person for supporting the mess WT have been and currently still are.

At least when I first supported Western Suburbs in the late 1970's they have a team that could put up a fight and actually care. Plus smash those Silvertails.

My parents went for Eels and happy that their children (me and brother) choose their own teams.
