Young sirro

Sironen came into 1st grade and looked natural, he wasn't out of place. For a guy in a position like that, its a hell of a compliment.

If by looked natural you're referring to him being on the teamsheet , then yeah he was right there with Tim Moltzen. I don't remember anything he did on the field (that includes being on it).

I rate young siro very highly. He's been forgotten somewhat because he hasn't played for quite a while. I can't help but notice the less astute commentators suffer from reccency bias. A bloke has a good game and he's the bees knees. A bloke has a bad game after a good run and it's time for him to be relegated.

Utai is case in point. I wasn't thrilled when we signed him but he was one of the best 5 players all year last year. He got scored on last week from a high ball and people are calling for him to be dropped. I totally agree his height could be exploited very easily, but the reality is that last year he was very good under the high ball for the most part and barely let one or 2 tries in all year via the high ball.

I also agree with ink or gnr or whoever it was that said the problem is the ruck and general defense overall. The roosters rolled forward all night and often made 60+m with the ball in hand. If you give a team enough chances to kick from 30m from your goal line each match it's only a matter of time before a bomb or cross field kick comes off.

Saving that 10 to 15m in defense is critical. It will be the difference between the tigers finishing 5th and 14th this year.

I agree, haven't been able to work out the fascination with Siro, hasn't stood out to me at all thus far. Maybe the hype has something to do with his last name

Perhaps that's as much a reflection of your memory as it is young sorrows ability

yeh.. edge backrower is i think the best spot for him.. i really think he is too slow for halves or centres..

the way he was hitting the holes off benji's ball was phenomenal.. reminded me of dwyer. also his tackling technique was amazing. he is an aggressive forward as well.. when he grows up more, i wanna see how hard he hits the line

Ahhhh yes! I was trying to think of who he resembled. Dwyer.
And I agree 100%, not quick enough for halves but definitely agile enough for a wide-running back rower. Decent combination with Benji but Benji won't be around forever - keen to see his combination with Brooks in the future.

He looked like he had been there for a while, the team clicked and apart from the Dogs game where they obstructed like crazy, he wasn't found out a huge amount.

I'm saying he was solid, not outstanding. And that, for a rookie who missed a tonne of footy through injury, to come into the halves of a side like Tigers while we were under massive pressure and not struggle, is a big compliment. Its stupid to judge a rookie by Thurston standards.

And for others in here, no its not just his surname or the fact he was wearing a Tigers jersey, this old chestnut has been worn out, please change the record and move on.

He looked like'd been in first grade for a long time, he loooked like he belonged, looked comfortable, not nervy or overawed….you dont remember anything of him - yet you mention Moltzen in the same regard- everyone remembers Moltzen, for all the wrong reasons- but for a kid that had half a year in 20's....his debut and first few games looked very promising....he'll make his share of mistakes as time goes by as all players do Im sure
But hey....lets expect seasoned & starring first grade performaces by rookies the moment they cross the NRL sideline

Yet again - no patience

what did you expect from him I was super impressed by his debut straightened the ball very well was strong in contact and ran a couple of nice lines looked at home.
id like to see him play right centre at some stage this year

Nobody is saying he was Dally M material or anything just yet.

He was quality last year. We would have semis had he not been injured IMO

Still don't see anyone in this forward pack that is prepared to get their hands dirty. We don't lack talent, we lack aggression in my opinion. When we are hitting it out of our own 20 on a cold wet Saturday night, which forward is going to put their hand up for a run that will skittle defenders?

Keithy maybe, Blair I hope so, but don't know who else.

Blair will step up. You missed woodsy. Done forget petty and some other new buys

that was at 6 though….

asking him to take hit ups and double the tackle count is a different kettle of fish. however, he is capable of pulling it off.

Absolutely he has, pedigree, although I hate the word

This all sounds like a lot of pressure put on a kid who has probably played 80 minutes of football in first grade and been out injured for twelve months and also will find it tough to crack the 17….. I find it amazing how he can be judged with such certainty after all of this.

How about we concentrate on the guys that are there and hope that young Sirro can hopefully live up to some of that 'potential' after a sustained effort.

In the mean time, all I've have seen is his 'potential', and that is all it is for now. Lets leave it at that
