Your favourite Marshall plays

after seeing his almost cross field grubber kick / through ball to Utai on the weekend, it got me thinking of some of the utterly freakish things this guy has done

some of my favourites:

the five sidesteps against Cronulla back in '05 - made even better by the fact he very nearly bombs the final pass to Fitzy

the behind the back flick to Richards in the '05 grand final

his behind the back pass to Ayshford for a try against Parra in the Hayne chip kick game in '09

his 40 metre cut-out last year against Melbourne to Ryan in the corner

and of course his 'it looked like I was trying to bomb but it was actually just a drop kick attempt' against Saints

thanks to Bonstonker I have all these gems on video

any others you can think of?

The side steps against Sharks was a Benji no-look pass to Pat Richards who passed back inside to Fitzy.

This is still one of my favourite pieces of Marshall magic, not the most important, but probably one of the earliest pieces that summed up his brilliance and confidence.

I'd say the final try against St Geo-Illawarra in the 2006 opener. To come up with that play in the final few minutes with a serious injury was exceptional.

The try he scored in the hill corner vs Storm Rd 25 in 2010\. He made the initial break and backed up to score in the corner.

the "gidley" flick to pat richards as he was falling to send richards away down the sideline in 05 and the run against the bunnies from the scrum last year but there is so many its not funny, no other rugby league player has the amount of highlights on youtube as Benji.

He made someone look very foolish one nite, sharks at cambo - nite game , think he stepped a forward out wide and went past untouched, slid across the line looking at the camera in the corner with a cheeky grin

Love the no look passes….and loved some of the big hits he put on once he got his confidence back from his shoulder problems, he smashed some blokes....and my all time favourite was not his flashy best, it was his toughest gutsiest moment, playing the second half V saints with fractured cheekbone and setting up the win : http://www.rleague.com/content/article.php?id=24670

My favourite Marshall plays are anytime we have a scrum 10 metres out, and the backline is stacked - Tim Sheens and Benji Marshall are the only two reasons in the game scrums should be kept - for set play moves.

ah, I forgot about the Souths play last year. I remember watching and thinking 'how the hell did he get through there?' as there wasn't a gap for him to run through that I could see. Brilliant.

2008 I think, r26 vs titans, Marshall grubbered through the defense, regathered, put a huge step on the fullback and beat him with ease, then through a no look flick pass to Moltzen who he missed and teo scored. Try was disallowed but the brilliant from benji was awesome

The try he set up in 2006 against the Warriors, flicked passed to Tuiaki and he scored on debut, that was brilliant!

Remember when he came back from his knee injury in 07? and he made a break, got to the fullback and ran around him on one leg? I cant remember who the opposition was but it was impressive stuff.

For mine though…nothing will ever beat his work to set up Aysh against Parra. We all saw it but it took a while to register what had happened. Apparently Robbie said to Benj that was the greatest thing he had ever seen on a football field. Even Joey on the sideline was speechless....That was nothing but pure magic.

…oh yeah...dont forget his 50 meter field goal off one step against the Titans...You really could put together a 3 hour video.

The try he saved against Brisbane in the finals series in '05 by holding up whoever it was over the line.
They score that try we probably don;t win that game we don;t make the '05 gf.

2005 1st qualifyer…...... from the back of a scrum puts on an awesome step to create a hole for Hodgo to breeze through. You could see him scheming before the scrum packs.

Also the no look for Lawrence last year against Manly

Pretty sure that was against Newcastle up there. Every time I see it just defies logic. He seems to be going in slow motion yet still has time.

BENJI THE MESSIAH

and

FARAH THE PHARAOH

make the opposition go  :bawling

make us go   :sunglasses:

love em both :master: :master:

#1 flick to Ayshford

Honourable mentions
- chip and chase v cowboys in 2010 finding Lotte out wide

- crabbing across field against Knights 06 throwing 3 dummies before putting Elford through for a Heighno try

- 09 v Knights converting from sideline to win it capping big 2nd comeback
