YOUR JOB?

It was the word "dow n syn drome"

Not at all derogatory obviously.

GNR, I have a couple of friends who have a massive interest in paeds. One thing that I've learnt is that there is a BIG SCOPE in that industry. There is so much research done and continuing to be done that's going to change the life of kids with such disabilities (autism being the biggest iirc).

I'm sure seeing how passionate you are you'll be able to get there. Good luck with it.

Unless you use it in a derogative form TP. I don't look after the filters here, but I would say that it's been used in a inflammatory manner previously which is why it's now filtered.

Fair enough, I remember once the word fullback was autocorrected because it started with f and ended with k

I'm a Health and Security Assistant at a hospital in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Permanent part time. Pretty good job really - the first job I've had in the public service. The only real downside is having to deal with security issues revolving around mental health and drugs.
Hey Larry Corowa, we should meet up - I'm only minutes away from Bruns.

Formally a primary school teacher, now working in the disability industry, did a few years in the field mainly with children with a disability. Now working as a trainer and assessor doing internal staff training and the certificate 3 and 4 in disability (training people up to work in the industry) very female dominated industry, only guy working with about 20 ladies ( live playing cricket in the weekends so I can talk "bloke" occasionally).
Great industry very rewarding

Been in the Security Industry for 15 years, IT before that, currently working at a monitoring station and have been there for about a year now.

Been full time since practically day 1 in the industry, some bouncing but mostly patrols.

Do I like it? hmmmmm been trying to get out of the industry for a couple of years, just don't have the time to get back to study to learn something different. Started Captive Animal Studies, finished a 3rd of the course, but just no time anymore to do the 8 hour a week volunteer work.

I finally realised I prefer working with animals rather than with people . Security Monitoring is ok though.

My post has been misinterpreted by some.
Im not ashamed of my job at all….Ive no problems with it, I have problems with some of the people I deal with while working and their attitudes towards us...that was what ''dont sneer'' referred to. Most people are cool....I dont like superficial people thats all

Nah, I'm a third year uni student studying Primary Education, currently working in Child Care. I want to pick up units for teaching children with Special Needs and look at doing something like that in the future.
The plan is to graduate end of next year, go into casual teaching, then full time and eventually teach overseas. And as I said I wouldn't mind now and then working with children in special needs.

I own a Pizza restaurant in Brunswick Heads just north of Byron Bay. Lifestyle decision after working in the corporate world for 20yrs or so. I try to work as little as possible.

Mmmmmm..I love pizza! Sounds like you made a good lifestyle decision Larry

I'm a Retoucher. I've been doing it about 20 years. I studied Fine Arts at Sydney Uni then quickly worked out how hard it is to make a living out of art. So I got into advertising. I mostly work on fashion, although I'm one of least fashionable people around.

Federal public servant for over 20 years. I've been able to help many individuals and organisations over that time and It's been a good career for me.

It is, however, probably the most disrespected industry in Australia - apart from refereeing.

Couldn't survive without our garbo. Recently missed our bin by mistake - panic stations throughout the household!

 I know the feeling Telltails. The kids forgot to put our bin out last week. It was chock a block. Panic… Had to chase the truck and explain what happened. Nice man drove back to empty it for us

Top thread DempS, great to get a small element of insight into fellow Tiger tragics lives.

Im a true corperate. senior strategic ICT. Recent gigs with Telstra HP CBA. currently based out of Nth Ryde at the mo.

Goal is CIO and I may crack it in this next 5 yr cycle. I love technology but love interacting with, empowering and leading people more than anything else. The entertaining budget comes in handy as well eg I spent 3k at hurrracanes on clients a few moths back in one lunch.
