14 Jake Simpkin

16 Thomas Mikaele
17 Stefano Utoikamanu

18 Alex Seyfarth

Tommy Talau - reserve grade 2nd row
Joey Leilua - reserve grade 2nd row from the bench

Good team Blake, guaranteed it won’t be anything like this when announced tomorrow

I have been assuming these threads are for selecting the team as if you were coach. Some people use it to see how close they can get to what Madge will pick. :man-shrugging:

I think Luch would make a good lock, he is mobile and he can pass. I don't know if lock what suit him better or worse in defence.

Yeah man, I see what you're doing.
Have some fun.

Madge is a gronk and I assume he won't shake things up.

I like your Team but I don't agree about LL @ lock.

if Liddle does not re-sign then no point playing him deep into the season.
May aswell persist with Simpkin
If Liddle re-signs then different story...

Nofo didn't defend well but who can you replace him with... especially if we drop talau

Going on the presser, Madge is not making changes fellas. Maybe a forward or two swap spots, but that will be it.

Reality is we will be facing Saints state cup 1-5 this week pretty much. This is exactly the type of game Nofaluma, and probably Talau, will look good, run for 200 and score tries.

And then be cemented in first grade for months again whilst they make tons of errors.

If Madge had any guts he would see this as a game to blood a few backs and start building for 2022. He won't do that though.

I think it’s bye bye Talau and BJ

1. Laurie
2. Nofa (thin ice)
3. Doueihi
4. Roberts
5. Cini (another call up maybe?)
6. Mbye
7. Brooks
8. Tamou
9. Liddle
10. Twal
11. Garner
12. Leilua
13. Joe Offa

14. Stefano
15. Mikaele
16. Blore
17. Seyfarth

Some people might not agree but I just don’t think Simpkin is up to it just yet. I would persist with Liddle @ 80 mins

I think this is spot on. Talau has to go and Nofo is on notice. Give Zac another crack and Liddle is all over Simpkin ATM

Cini a definite no, Cooper is made for 1st gde, play him . The rest i agree.

Type of game that will put paper over the cracks, then we play the top 4 in successive weeks. Hope it sees the end of the Maguire

You are right, it is a classic 'paper over cracks' game.

Realistically, what is left of this Saints squad is not scoring more than 12 v anyone at the moment. They are decimated.

We can go two ways...take a bit of a punt and use it to blood a few state cuppers who are in form / very likely still win and let them start with a confidence building win.

OR

We can play it conservative...keep the same old backs who have failed for years now like Nofa and Talau...pretend BJ as a future also...and win by enough to cement their spots for a few weeks.

I'd like to see Madge use it to be a bit bold and blood a few. But no way he does. I will be shocked if we don't see BJ/ Talau /Nofa.

Nofa is the worst defensive winger in the comp...yet we gave him a 4 year extension. It just won't end.

Really st merge? As wests tigers supporters we call them st merge?

I call them much more than that outside of this forum

Why does it bother you?

I'd love to see a

4. Cooper
5. Fitzgibbon

But in reality I think we will see some mix of a Talau/Cini/BJ combo.

There's a real paradox here. People want change but most realise you can't build cohesion - the thing we're really missing in defence - with constant shuffling.

Then there's "Definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result".

Must be fun being a coach.

I'm happy to support whoever Madge picks.

With all the outs the Saints have we are specials to get done.

1 - Laurie
2 - Nofoaluma (I only pick him because I know he will be there)
3 - Doueihi
4 - J. Leilua
5 - Roberts (if fit)
6 - Mbye
7 - Brooks

13 - Ofahengaue
12 - L. Leilua
11 - Garner
10 - Twal
9 - Liddle
8 - Tamou

14 - Utoikamanu
15 - Blore
16 - Mikaele
17 - Seyfarth

Totally agree. Missing a back on the bench but we have few options worth considering.

St merge is a phrase used in a derogatory way of describing their club by other club supporters. We are a merged club to so using that as a stick to bet them with, We are really having a go at our selves. Why would you call them st merge, if you think there is nothing wrong with merging?
If you call them st merge you are implying there is something wrong with merging

Would prefer to let form decide selections. We need to give ourselves the best chance to win every week. Unfortunately few and far between.

Fair enough
Didn’t mean it like that at all and I’m sorry if you took offence

I thought it was the Dragons fans consider it to be more of a takeover of Illawarra than a merge and hate the implication that it was a equal parts merger.
