Even after the Curtis Scott and Tom Starling incidents people are still jumping the gun on these police incidents. Something seriously wrong with them in Australia. Reminds me of America.

Some cops are just wankers.

Agreed. There's always some bad apples, in every walk of life.

I haven't met many police officers, but of the ones I have met, most of them were good people, trying to do a job, trying to help people, but yes, some are dodgy as like in all walks of life.

You really start to question if they carry some racism if what Zane is saying is true. They really should have better things to do with their time.

I don’t understand , why they couldn’t just answer the question . It’s like 20 seconds of thier life . The only reason I can think is Musgrove is huge , they felt intimidated, and were trying to assert thier authority . It’s hardly conducive to improving relations , with all the anti police stuff the last few years .
Still , how many units out there are trying to look for a reason to punch a cop. Just to digress , did anyone see that footage of that cop getting stabbed in the back at central station ? I can understand why the feel the need , it’s a dangerous job .

Hey @willow are they trained in jujitsu , Krav Maga and disarming tactics ? One of the main issues coming out of BLM in the USA is just how unskilled a lot of them are , hence why they kill people a lot during arrest ?

Compared to Australia police in the USA are barely trained,a few weeks training is considered enough in some places(varies a great deal in different parts of the USA)

Zane’s story does beg the question, why were police there in the first place?
Last place I left at closing time didn’t have police involved. And when Police are there means that you shouldn’t be in the venue. So to ask a dumb ass question like that he deserved to be arrested IMO.
Pay the $550 and get on with it!!!

So, I would say it was roughly like this: they left the pub and then they and plenty of others were still hanging out the front, neighbours complained about noise, police came to clear the area, weren't in the mood to deal with dozens of drunk people. No big story. Completely over-hyped reporting, as usual. Absolutely nothing like the Haas incident.

Was it over hyped reporting? I only saw reports sting they were arrested. Maybe over hyped reactions.

Yes maybe I am over-hyping the over-hyping.

By [Christian Nicolussi](https://www.smh.com.au/by/christian-nicolussi-h0yp7o)

Nine days ago, Zane Musgrove was thrown into the back of a police van. On Tuesday, he was thrown into the Maori All Stars.

Musgrove must have wondered if he would miss the opening of the NRL season because of his run-in with police outside the Coogee Bay Hotel, in what proved to be the start of an emotional roller coaster the past few days.

The Wests Tigers prop was arrested and fined for failing to leave a licensed premises. He has been cleared to play in Townsville by the NRL, but is still waiting for the Integrity Unit to officially clear him of wrongdoing.

The 24-year-old wanted to tell his side of the story to the Herald, especially given his claims he did nothing wrong.

Tigers teammate AJ Kepaoa, 21, was also arrested and charged on the night.

“I was out at the Coogee Bay, we had a good night, we left, the police came, they started moving people away. I asked, ‘why are we getting moved away?’, then I got arrested,” Musgrove said.

“AJ got arrested because he asked me why I got arrested.

“I didn’t carry on, I wasn’t aggressive and wasn’t intimidating in any way. I simply asked a question. They took me back to the station, opened the door and sent me on my way. I didn’t even get taken down to the cells. They said, ‘we’ll send you a fine’.

“The policeman came to my house that [Sunday] night to drop off my fine. I asked him, ‘Why did I get arrested? I still don’t know why’. He told me, ‘I was being too inquisitive’.

“I’m not blaming anyone. I just thought it could have been handled better. I was up front with the club and I was up front with the NRL Integrity Unit.”

Musgrove is so determined to clear his name he plans to appeal the $550 fine.

Receiving a call from Maori coach David Kidwell certainly lifted his spirits.

Musgrove, whose father Tony is Maori, knows next Saturday’s clash against the Indigenous All Stars will mean a lot to his family - and so much to him.

“I’m really excited to play, this does mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to rip in,” Musgrove said.

Musgrove missed the 2019 season when he was stood down by the NRL after being charged with indecently assaulting a woman he knew on the dance floor at the Coogee Bay Hotel. He was found guilty and given a 12-month good behaviour bond, but last year he successfully appealed to have that decision overturned.

During his time out of the game, Musgrove started a job in maintenance at Wests Ashfield and kept fit by training with the Tigers’ NSW Cup team.

Musgrove is tipped for a huge year at the Tigers after injury restricted him to six games last season. He slugged it out with the team in Tamworth on Tuesday. St George Illawarra saw enough and made a big-money play for his services, but Musgrove recommitted to the Tigers. He is expected to come into the Maori side for Gold Coast forward Kevin Proctor.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire knows Musgrove can provide plenty of spark up front, as will new recruit Joe Ofahengaue and young back-rower Shawn Blore.

Just goes to show we can't jump the gun and judge people based on the reports of the media or telecrap... good on him for not doing anything stupid

Musgrave might be telling porkies .....not saying he is ...but it sounds like a rather large over reaction from police

RSA laws work like that here in NSW. I used to hold a liquor license and the rules around "moving on" are really clear and unbending. Cops will just sweep through and there are no right answers, just move along or get in the wagon.

Yeah ...and you hope your not on the see saw ....

The way I see it with police helmet cams and witnesses, let sleeping dogs lie, no dissent intended. Madge is tough, he'll use this to his advantage, he's the kiwi coach and this club is on the way up, these guys have to play out if their skin to be in the side, if you don't make a winning side your value goes out the door. No more floor rugs to wipe your dirty feet on, the Liddle v Lucy incident is an example of how this club is finally getting a bit of mongrel and a competitive attitude, great stuff but harness it!
